Seriously, Newegg and HR Block. Gift cards are the new mail in rebates. They are gimmicky, a huge pain to track and spend, and a lot of additional work for very little in return. Nobody wants them.
Just give us Deluxe + State for $10 straight up cash like you eventually do. You end up stealing $20 for state efile anyway.
Keep the gift card and just give us the software for $15. This morning I got a SD deal alert for $11.25 for this software. Must have been a mistake because the link to the deal went no place.

The deal is back. I got last time or two times ago. In these days, don't keep GC unused for extended period of time. Get the one you will use within the next few months. Some stores may be out of business this year like BBB.

All of these stores, Home Depot etc., are paying Block for the privilege of having their gift cards on there. With the expectation that you will end up spending more than $20 at the store.
So they are subsidizing the Block software to be only $15. Which Block probably wouldn't do on its own.

And there's PLENTY of profit in all of that, that you can use to lobby to keep tax laws highly complex [propublica.org].

This is my opinion.
