Yeah I read that and immediately thought it's not worth the $99 price tag. 5 gallons of water is 40 lbs.
5 gallons of water is absurd unless you're doing desert full-carry in which case I hope they know enough to already have a bag on hand and be able to decipher whether this is a good bag for them or not.

I'm probably going to cull my water down to 1 or 2L which is like a half gallon, depending on how much water there is on route. I tend to backpack to lakes so there is usually fair amount of water availability

These are great packs, but do have some drawbacks. My wife and I have used them for years and thousands of miles. I reviewed the regular and women's version. Search for trailspace crown 2 reviews

How comfortable is it when packing? My Osprey is awesome but now I need another for my teenage son.
I find it comfortable but it's the only pack I've done any serious packing with. Still, 7 hours a day for 3 days. I would take it on a long term hike based on my experience.

Very lightweight for a 60 liter pack. Just personal preference, I would like this pack a lot more if it had front access instead of just being a top loader.

The complaints about 35 pounds are way overblown. It's just a recommendation. I've gone over that before and it's still fine but doesn't have the elaborate (heavy) suspension systems of some other packs. Comparing this to an unnamed AliExpress backpack is unhelpful. That pack probably isn't any better at that weight. This is a borderline ultralight pack so it's reasonable for it to be designed with a lowish base weight in mind. At this price, this is the best value backpack period.

Can you put a tent on the underside of this backpack (outside) ?
I ran paracord using the loops at the bottom of the pack. Works for strapping light weight things like a sleeping pad or tent.

I'll join in as another voice saying this is a killer deal on an ultralight backpack. I purchased one about a year ago and have really loved it. My only real complaint is the thing shoulder straps. I'd happily take the weight penalty for slightly wider ones, but in practice it wasn't much of an issue carrying ~20lbs.

This is definitely a purpose built backpack though. It's designed to be as lightweight as possible without sacrificing too many things (frame, capacity) for people backpacking dozens/hundreds/thousands of miles. If you're looking for something to carry a bunch of groceries from the store at a cheap price point, I'd suggest checking out the Teton Sports brand. They're going to be twice as heavy, but it won't be that noticeable if you're loading it down with a ton of weight. I've found them to be durable and comfortable.

Compared to the Ospreys and a Kelty pack I have that all have more robust suspension systems I find it's not as comfortable but it's super lightweight. I'm getting a little older but for a young man this should be a pretty awesome pack. Great price too

I own this (got it over 200$), and I've done backpacking trips with this bag (although my pack was well under 30pounds) I highly recommend it given the light weight and comfort of the pack.
