Thanks OP. In for one. Best price I have seen on this charger in awhile. I swear when it first came out, it was much cheaper. I hate that DT still charges so much for the shipping. It would be nice if they opened up a store near me! The money they charge me for shipping could easily go towards another tool!

Is it a misprint that it says charges one battery at a time?

Compatible with All RYOBI 40-Volt Lithium-Ion Batteries
Charges One Battery at a Time

What would be the point?

Uhh the point is to drop all batteries at once and not have to remember to come back and interchange them individually

I just figured if it has a spot for 3 batteries it would charge them all at the same time. I guess since I bought a few tools and got a charger and battery for each, I can charge multiples at a time that way... Just thought this would take less space on the work bench but not if it only charges one at a time.

I wish that were the case, it's the same with my 18v multi charger... Might be a limitation of wattage or something.

What would be the point of *not* charging one at a time? I'd rather have a full battery an an hour, than having to wait six hours for all of them to get full at the same time. If it puts all of it's power to one battery, you get a fully charged battery quicker. When that's topped off, it moves on to the next battery, an starts charging that.

Obviously his expectation for this product is to charge 3 batteries simultaneously at full speed which is not unreasonable. I think if their target market was professionals they'd have that available but if they are targeting homeowners one at a time is probably enough.

Anyone know the difference between this one and the 6-port that is often the same price or less?

I agree with your summary. I noted the low price earlier today. I tried to make a case for this but cannot given day to day situational realities. I typically use 2 batteries to finish mowing the lawn, then I grab another for brief usage in the blower. When I replace the first battery in the mower I'm already sticking the exhausted one in the charger. That charge is basically finished by the time I need to charge the second one. The blower battery merely needs topping off.

I don't see how spending $75 plus tax for this item is adequate value, especially since I'm going to be walking past the charger area multiple times anyway, given where it's situated. No big deal to see lights off and switch to the next battery of need.

Besides, I have to believe Ryobi will be making advancements in this area, and likewise with solar. That's part of my hesitation. I've looked at their related comments underneath YouTube videos when these topics come up so frequently..."why no solar?" and "why no simultaneous charging?" Ryobi is not saying forget about it. They realize they need to keep advancing the product line, instead of a slightly higher spec version of the same thing.

ive had mine since day 1 release, and my batteries are all fine. same with my 6 bank 18v charger.

I paid full price, and no regrets. hate manually charging batteries one at a time on a single charger or multiple

No you're not missing anything. This really is lame. The liquidators around me regularly sell the single chargers for $10 each. I have three of those and charge all three batteries at the same time.

Yeah, that's lame. I wall mounted both my chargers so I have 3 40v batteries always charged and 18v 6 on tap.

It's about space and convenience.

Not always cost

Not unreasonable, unless you know how electricity works. If you put all the power to one battery at a time, that battery will charge quicker. It's not like it charges one, and then *doesn't* rotate to start charging the next when that's done.

With two (legacy style) chargers I have hanging on the wall, it's not really hard to remember the battery I just depleted replacing the charged battery.
