anyone care to draw some comparisons to competing products? people swear up and down over this, but I have no point of reference and it's pricepoint is too high to "try".

I upgraded from the Beam to the Arc. It's better in the sense that is has a more fuller sound stage. But I was expecting it to be louder and more immersive yet it wasn't quite what I had expected. I think it's really designed to be paired with the Sub, which we haven't picked up yet. I haven't quite noticed any difference with Atmos content. But I'm still experimenting.

very honest response, thank you.
What I feel helps when trying to get a good picture on differences between devices is I'll try the new device for a few weeks and then switch back to my old one to see if it was an improvement.
I would hope that if you were spending on a product that costs 2x as much that the difference would be immediately apparent though....
Looking to get the Beam Gen 2. What are the chances this will get below $400 sooner than later or should I just scoop it up now? I don't mind getting an open box / refurb. In fact, considering jumping on Best Buy open box at $360.
It definitely accepts the code and shows only the AAA discount at checkout (and not the promotional price discount also), but I didn't pull the trigger yet and actually check out to verify if any way to stack and get both discounts.

It's going to give you a much fuller soundstage, and it will do a decent job with bass (for a soundbar, anyways). These units have had issues in the past, but they're tolerable with some workarounds. The Arc absolutely shines with the bass module, and cheap ikea symofonisk surrounds. It's my favorite system to listen to tv and more casual movies on, and I have a THX rated home cinema set up to fall back on if I need it. If the price jump is too much for you, and you need more details, search for someone named "Peter Pee" on youtube. He does a great job of breaking down the performance characteristics of the Arc in layperson (non-audiophile) terms. If you're already in the Sonos ecosystem or think you ever will be, it's a no brainer to work around the few fussy issues with this particular product in order to have it integrate with the rest of your Sonos system. If not, then yeah there's other options like Bose, Samsung, etc.

Please let me know. I just bought at promotional price and I will cancel if discounts stack

Also upgraded from Beam to Arc. Lots of extra $ but worth it. Small room 225 sq ft

The Costco variant is identical but without the microphone.
