Narrow belt sanders were a game changer for automotive collision repair technicians when they came out several years back. Steel components are spot-welded together car - little round welds, the width of a pencil-tip eraser or two are spaced every few inches - these must be removed for panel replacement. A narrow belt sander with a 60 or 80 grit belt is quicker and requires less physical exertion than drills or traditional grinders.

Whew! This belt sander isn't exactly what I was picturing when I saw the title. I'm so invested in the Ryobi One+ ecosystem that I have a hard time resisting any of their cordless tool line that has the slightest chance of one day maybe possibly theoretically being useful to me. But this I think I can resist. If the Ryobi tool line is an addiction then DTO surely meets the law enforcement definition of a 'pusher'.

Still waiting for Ryobi to come out with the hotly anticipated field expedient 18 volt margarita maker that the tool world is clearly crying out for.

It's flat rate shipping. Doesn't make a lot of sense if you only buy 1 thing, but if you were, for example, to add all 11 items above to your cart, then shipping would only be $1.36 each. Or, just pick up at the store if there's one nearby.

Damn I wish I picked one of these up last week. With shipping, these deals are terrible.

I think some tools from that sale were in-store only. Not sure if this was one.

Exactly. Some of these sale prices are even better with shipping factored in than during last week's sale with free shipping, but buy more than one thing, and most of these prices are undoubtedly the better deal.

I compared each and every one of the items I listed against all past slickdeals before including. Even with shipping factored in, you're looking at some of the best prices ever on these items, barring maybe some creative HD hacks.

Full disclosure: I haven't bought any of the deals listed here as I got everything I needed during last week's sale.

For slim metal corroded fence like in the picture. Lol

Probably a tool with fewer usage than a regular palm sander.

Valid question, same as I had when the HD deal popped up a week or so ago. The reviews at HD give a lot of good ideas.

You know, I have a store nearby but have not yet found a deal on anything in stock there. I've been wanting to go inside for years but am rarely on that side of town with time to burn.

I have a corded sander of this type. It's easier to think of it as an electric file than a sander. I use it in rough shaping wooden axes, swords and other things for awards. If you put a finer grit belt on it, it's great for removing paint and finishes in tight spaces, where the belt isn't a ton bigger than using a finger behind sandpaper.

It also makes easy work of sharpening lawn mower blades, and rounding over edges where you don't want a perfect fillet from a router with a roundover bit, and want the more handmade look.

The most common thing this tool is used for is filing strike plates to make a door close better.

As someone who uses this type of tool on a regular basis, I'd recommend the Bauer corded belt file from HF for the same price. It is very superior to this tool. It just has to be plugged in.
