I really hope the "Wait for Costco price to drop to $6.50/$7 each before you buy - $8/bin is not a good deal at all" crowd notices these prices. Blows my mind that people are that delusional
I bought some of these totes through SD from Office Depot/staples are they just as brittle as those? Hit one of the lids with something and it just cracked up.

Sam's Club has these available for $10 each. They also have the larger 40 gallon totes for $20, which appear to retail for approx. $30 everywhere else. I just picked up a stack of the 40s from Sam's this weekend for the garage. Hope this helps.....
FYI the totes from HD and Costco look very similar but the dimensions are just different enough to not stack together at all, not even 'loosely'. I wouldn't mix and match.
not totally true, I have about a dozen of these HD ones and picked up a couple of Costco ones. Dimension are slightly different and these HD ones can't not stack on the Costco ones but the Costco ones can stack and fit perfectly on these HD ones, so if anything you would have to alternate

Yeah, all my totes are the HDX from Home Depot, so while I was tempted with the Costco deal, I did not want to have ever-so-slight differences in my tote collections. I'm glad the price has gone down.

Really? I guess I must have only tried stacking HD on top of Costco and not vice versa because the Costco ones looked larger than the HD ones. The more you know.
For anyone interested in my question about using the HDX for storing HDX bins, I thought about it some more and I think that while it may be possible to fit 5 27-gallon HXD bins on one of those. But compare that to the Husky 90"x90" shelves (currently at HD for $350). If you bought the HDX, that's $260 for 4x5 bins stored, which doesn't sound too bad until you consider how much crappier these shelves are than those Husky 5-tier shelves. But the real problem is that with the Husky, you can store the stores side by side, with four totes in a 90" width, whereas if you went with the plastic HDX shelves, it would take 4x36" = 144", so at least 54" more wall width for the same number of columns. So it's not more more for the Husky, the shelves are a LOT better, and it takes WAY more space to store using the HDX shelves.
Not that I'm recommending the Huskies. They were $200 in late 2021. Time machine, yadda yadda yadda, but the point is that I think that they're still way inflated. I'm just saying that the HDX aren't as good as the Huskies and the Huskies seem overpriced, so I'm going to keep waiting.

yup there's also a slight color difference on the yellow tops for those that are really OCD. More importantly the quality on the Costco ones appeared as good as the HDX ones so at that price Costco had I was more than happy with them, actually upset I didn't get several more

The HDX totes are 15.2" high in case anyone knows the height of each shelf on the HDX one.
