That makes sense, it's probably regional & the result of increased competition in my area. Menard's was the hardware store go-to when I lived in WI for a few years, but they haven't been in OH very long. Granted, I was much more excited to see Culver's open in NE OH.
Spot on. For me Menards rebates are treated as money and entered into the home improvement fund as a positive in the monthly budget. I actually even just convert those stupid visa gift cards to Menards gift cards so I don't have to deal tracking the balance on the Visa cards.
1,000,000.
Yeah, because no one builds sheds

Rather silly the big box stores were sued over this and now are much more careful.
Second, they have a bunch of DIYers who anally pick through the boards to find only "perfectly straight" boards, leaving the stack a mess and only going to twist worse. Once they get them home they put them on their damp garage floor only for them to end up much the same as boards they passed by.
Lumber yards often have the same or similar quality - but with higher prices the yahoos stay out and the service is usually much better, so the stacks are better kept and stay straighter.

Yes I'm well aware that 2x4's don't actually measure 2" x 4" anymore. It's referring to their NOMINAL dimension and not the actual dimension. Long time ago it actually was 2" x 4" but not anymore.
Home Depot and Lowes also sell primarily white wood for framing/construction lumber.
Southern yellow pine is way stronger and a higher quality wood than whitewood. You have it backwards.
The only real truth in the above statement is they cannot be applied to online orders.
1) You NEVER have had to use the entire rebate at once, never have. You can use multiple partial used ones if needed as well against a single purchase.
2) It is nearly as good as cash, with only a couple reasonable restrictions such as you can't convert them to gift cards. Same for any other store credit rules at any other store. (This is to prevent rebate fraud where people send rebates to fake names/addresses and try to consolidate them or resell them as the checks are printed with your name and address.)
3) You also save your tax rate by using them. $100 in rebated purchases at your normal (say 7%) tax gets you $100 credit check. Buy another $100 worth of items (further rebated or not) with that check and you owe literally - nothing as they deduct the $100 from your SUBTOTAL before they calculate tax on purchases using them. That's a 7% average additional savings for most states.

After Sleepy Joe inflation the past two years I am forced to live in a shied right now.
