Is it at all possible for them to use these orders to cook their books or something?
I received an email at the time with the announcement.
The reason I have that email is because in 2014 I ordered a MacBook Air from them.
The order went through odd delays and overall weirdness.
This is a note I wrote to macmall about the fiasco years ago:
"Order placed on in-stock item Sunday 12/14.
Credit card charged Sunday 12/14.
ShopRunner 2-day Shipping selected.
Monday... Order shows 'Processing'
Tuesday (12/16)... Order shows 'Processing'
MacMall Live Help ("Regine") notes that American Express did not authorize the charge.
I called American Express (being that the $899 charge shows on my account). American Express verifies it was authorized.
I explain this to "Regine" and further add that MacMall needs to call American Express if MacMall did not receive an auth code.
"Regine" explains that MacMall credit department will re-process the transaction.
I ask for confirmation and am told that I will receive an e-mail when the order ships.
Tuesday (12/16) evening I chat with "Jessie" asking for a status and am told that the item is back-ordered.
So my card was charged, nothing was shipped, no attempt to contact me was attempted for the alleged 'charge not authorized' issue. And now today, when the item price has increased, and is suddenly displaying 'not in stock' on the MacMall web-site, I have learned a valuable lesson; do not do business with MacMall. Additionally, I will never recommend MacMall to any person I ever come in contact with. Furthermore I will make sure that the company I work for understands fully that if they are looking for a retail source for enterprise solutions, MacMall is not the company we should look to do business with.
All I will add is CANCEL THIS ORDER NOW.
Thanks for making what was supposed to be a gift a burden. I will now patronize my local BestBuy location and gladly spend the extra $70.00 to receive the same item in-person.
This experience, my first with MacMall will be the last. Sad, since it could have been so much different."
