$999 and no 5.1 SACD support? At least include an HDMI to pass DSD bitstream, and preferably 5.1 RCA analog outputs too.
This. Super-audio CDs are really cool. But, the main reason I enjoy them is for 5.1 mixes. I only have a handful of stereo SACDs so this player isn't too useful to me. For now, I'll continue using my Sony 4K player to play SACDs. Most Sony players support SACD since it is their format.

I have many 5.1 Blu Ray discs that don't necessitate an expensive SACD player. Are there releases only available in SACD?
They never went out of style with those who knew analogue sound before digital CD came about.
The rest decided to go backwards to the days of analogue vinyl, low bit mp3 streaming, listening to loudness wars engineered music and saying yes, a wireless Bluetooth speaker will suffice as my hi-fi system.
I suspect part of the novelty of vinyl is down to having to listen to the whole side of a disc instead of skipping tracks. Not to mention the brightness of the vinyl sound. Nothing wrong with it, it's just different as it was sound engineered to be so to compensate for the limitations of vinyl media.
On behalf of all those that dumped their CD collection at Goodwill...a thousands thank yous! I had to actually purchase a carry-on to bring back the boatload of CDs I purchased at goodwill stores in the Phoenix area back in 2017!
