For those wondering looks like $35-40 for 3rd party ink which is a must at least for me when getting a printer. Epson is probably my 2nd favorite brand when it comes to printer, I still think Canon makes the best ones, so will hold off a little longer. Reason I like Canon more, I never had one break on me, cant say the same for Epson, HP, or brother.

Also, which printer brands let's you continue printing when the black or color inks are out.

Many epsons Refuse to continue printing in black of even 1 color is out.

Also, pay attention to the Epson Clearance.
Sometimes, amazing printer deals with full warranties.

brother printers don't have the best quality but they are an open book and at any price they will let you use any cheap ink. i highly recommend them

Argh, I need a new printer and this one fits the bill except I can't find a chip reseter for it. Even Chipless Solutions doesn't support i yet.

I see lots of 410 and 410XL refillable cartridges but no reset-able chips...

the wait continues...

Man the printer market has so changed in a short amount of time it feels like. I have mostly Brother units at my office that I can buy cheap 3rd party ink for no problem, and a very old Canon Pixma at home that works the same. I was looking at adding a printer at work and I was amazed at the lack of 3rd party ink options for all the newer units. Not to mention all the restrictions, like subscription nonsense that kills the units operation if not subscribed.

My second most recent printer purchase was a Canon Pixma. I never could get it to scan more than two pages before giving me a stuck paper error even when everything was set up perfectly. Ok fine, I won't use the feeder to scan things. Next up was it giving me a network error half the time I tried to print from my phone or laptop even though I had a strong connection. I sometimes spent 20+ minutes trying to get a single PDF to print. I gave it away when I moved and picked up an Epson and so far everything has worked butter smooth so I guess YMMV but Canon is dead to me.

My sample size is a lot larger than just one printer. I have had and managed about 7 Canons, 20+ HP's, 20+ Lexmark's/Dell, about 10 Epsons, and about 8 Brothers. Not counting a few industrial printers in the last 20 years.

The reason the HP's and Lexmark's are so much higher cause they kept breaking, lol.

Epson definitely I hold in higher respect than most other brands. Have had a few Epsons break on me but not a lot. This is definitely a good deal, but since I dont need a new printer for the house just yet, I can keep waiting. If I was in a rush I would have picked this up.

I'm guessing this is mostly commercial level stuff correct? I've heard good things about Canon and their commercial level equipment but I'm not sure it carries into the consumer market. Then again everything in the consumer market is cheap now so maybe my Epson will start to fail soon enough but at least until then I can refill it with bottles of ink at a fraction of the cost.

Have had this o e for about 5 years now and no complaints. It doesn't give out an error when using cheap ink and still works perfectly.

Both actually, the commercial levels go for the main office users to use at the printing centers/areas, but the executives usually get their own personal printer which is a higher end consumer level.

Canon was slow to adapt to mobile printing and app use, but their build quality, and print quality have been top notch. A few models of their higher end printers have slow start up times if they are not used frequently cause they cycle ink to prevent clogs and drying, so you get a 1-2 minute wait sometimes before first print comes out. Outside of that they just work. Mechanically never had any problems with them, but their mobile app efforts were not the best when companies started first moving to it, they have come a long way since that.

No where the printer sample size you have, but my wife has gone thru 4 of the $200 to $300 Pixma printers. They all broke within 2 years. This time she let me get here a Epson with the refillable tanks. Only had it 3 months but she is loving it so far. She has printed almost 2000 pages and the ink tanks are still around half full. We were having to buy ink for the Canon printers almost monthly at about the same cost as the Epson refill bottles. No clue on how long the printer will last but we did get it a Costco so if something does go wrong then hopefully they will take care of it. I will say the Canon printed better photo quality but my wife very rarely needs anything in that quality of print.

I'll never buy another HP again because of their subscription programs.

I've owned this printer for about 5 years and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Epson offers drivers only install or the whole suite package on their website. Network reliability is excellent, very quick to be recognized, even from a cold boot. All its functions work wirelessly, which is great for today's world. This printer lets you print till the ink cartridges are dry and doesn't complain about 3rd party cartridges. However, if you want to get the best quality photo prints, I would recommend Epson inks for their color accuracy and longevity. Note, this printer takes 5 inks, CYMK and Photo Black.

In my lifetime I've received 3 FREE printers completely FREE from places like Craigslist or my local buy nothing FB group. Again, I've NEVER paid for a printer and they all work great. I have 2 Espons - an NX530 and Artisan 750. For these, I've purchased the refillable ink cartridges with ARC (Automatic reset chips) and buy cheap ink off amazon. I also have an HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175NW. FREE. Now, for this one, it says it's out of toner but I'm not sure that's true; it's been printing just fine. I also need to figure out if the cartridges in there have been replaced and are refillable but I'll cross that bridge once the printer seems to actually be low on toner.

So the moral of my story is this: TRY, just TRY to get a printer like this FOR FREE and you will feel so much better about owning a FREE printer that you did not pay for; like me.
