HOA is basically a useless but annoying organization.
Where do you live? I'm in Texas and I think state law here prevents any entity from restricting property owners from using devices to harness solar energy. This even extends to clotheslines, which are classified as solar energy devices. Of course even if the law is on your side, you may not want to start a row with your neighbors.
Making my own solar generator/power box for camping and hurricanes. Batteries are the most expensive part and I already have a bunch of them from my yard tools. This panel + mppt boost charge controller will recharge a 4ah battery in a little over an hour.

Reminds me of a H&S pattern Wink Where do we go from here? The 200MA? Bearish?

Edit: Not to crap on this deal as I am now looking at Solar Panels and might finally pull the trigger, but there seem to be a lot of "similar" companies selling similar products. This one is $139.99 - link [amazon.com]

I'm glad prices are dropping! My HOA won't allow me to put one on the roof, but I was inspired by some folks having set up an array in their backyard. Maybe I can attach some to poles and call them "decorations" lol

Bought this a few months ago from aliexpress for $125 shipped. It actually shipped from an Amazon warehouse. The size is manageable, and it'll hit the rated 140w in full sun. Currently use it with a boost charge controller to charge up my Ryobi 40v batteries.

why do you need this to charge Ryobi 40v batteries? are you building something in the middle of nowhere? sawing trees down & screwing them together or something? surely you're not lugging around a 50 pound car battery just to charge your rechargeable batteries if you're not in the middle of nowhere
You haven't heard? The Sahara is the new housing hot spot!

Probably one manufacturer and lots of relabeling? Technology is sure getting cheaper though. I'm looking at whole roof Solar. I even have a meeting scheduled. My bill is $400 a month!

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I have portable solar panels and the MPPT boost controller. I've watched the related YouTube videos. But I haven't gotten around to modifying the ends of the boost controller cables and charger cable.

The Ryobi battery chargers can also be connected to a power station to accomplish the same thing, as long as the power station is pass through. I'm not sure if efficiency changes significantly via that method.

I have a pile of batteries to maintain in their off seasons. And I know nothing about solar.
I'm dreaming of a bench on my south-facing garage wall with all these batteries (boat, motorcycles, snowmobiles, lawn tractor, etc.) all hooked up and trickle-charged/maintained by a solar panel(s) on the outside of that wall. While I drink beer and tend to more pressing matters.
Where to go to learn if this could be a reality and how to do it?
