I haven't received anything about the Kohl's card, but we recently received an email and then a new Firestone credit card in the mail that replaces their store card. We'll only use it at Firestone because we have another credit card that we prefer for all other purchases.

I received an email from Kohls, then a week later regular mail from Capital One with information about the Kohls card.

I had Sears do that once like 20 years ago. Then I didn't use it and the bank eventually canceled it. So I ended up with no Sears card. Idiots.
