I hate on-ear headphones, but even with over-the-ear headphones I don't like any part of the cups touching my ears.
I have a pair of wired headphones that are technically 'over-the-ear', but the cups are actually pretty small.
I wish these things gave 'ID' (inner diameter) type measurements.
