That is correct. The old PS4 version was titled remaster as it was so.

This one is titled part one, to follow The Last of Us part two. It was developed by using part two's game engine so the graphics, physics, AI, etc are all changed. This requires a lot more time and manpower than a remaster would. The outcome is also significant too.

People can complain about pricing, that is valid. But they shouldn't devalue what the remake did. The results speaks for itself. There will probably be a lot of new people playing this franchise now that the HBO show has taken off. Myself included since I haven't owned any consoles since the PS2 era. I'll be getting this title in March when the PC version comes out.

The developers intended for the fans to be able to play this title and part two back to back without any change in quality.

The remastered version is in 60fps. Hard pass. One of the craziest prices I've seen for a game that's been remastered already once. I'll bite when it 10$

Cause this was a "remake" vs an upgrade like ghost and uncharted. Anyway for them to price it like a full new game.

I played TLOU Remastered a few years ago on PS5 (great game and totally worth playing). I'm tempted to replay and probably worth it to do that with the new version, but thinking I'll wait for PC release. PS5 is all good, but I'm preferring the PC platform more these days since it gives me more options -- in addition to my gaming PCs, I can also play on Steam Deck, for example. Being able to use mods is also a bonus. Downside is there can be more troubleshooting required on PC than on consoles, but worth the trade off for me.

Honestly I might be in the minority, but I wasn't that impressed with the visual upgrades. It certainly didn't warrant a $70 price tag. I'm a huge sucker and got the Firefly Edition because it was selling out so quick. If not for that, I probably would have waited to pick this up.

Can't blame them for the easy cash grab, but if you're on a budget, just play the older version. You aren't missing much. The TV show is amazing so far, so I expect they are getting plenty of sales on this.
