Sovol has a Valentine's Day sale where you can get the SV06 3D printer for $239 with free shipping. Also, when you open the Sovol website, a lucky wheel pops up that always gives the same coupon codes. The $5 off $200 code Q15C works for the SV06, bringing the price down to $234 (the $5 off $100 code FP55 somehow doesn't).

There are quite a few tests of the printer on YouTube.
The SV06 looks a bit like the Prusa MK3S, with a similar design that uses linear ball bearings. It also has automatic bed leveling, a dual Z-axis, a direct extruder with gear reduction, and an all-metal hot end that allows for higher print temperatures needed for some types of filament such as nylon.

The SV06 is the best 3D printer in the sub-$500 price range. It's effectively a Prusa i3 MK3S+ for 25% of the price and no 6 week wait time.

Read the reviews do your research. This has issues with bed leveling, terribly squeaky bearings right out of the box, and many complaints of warped beds.

There is a TON of info in the FB group, and on the Sovol subreddit.

Because of these reasons, I would buy it knowing you may have some things to sort. Also, I'd buy from Amazon. Its about $30 more, but ships much faster, and can be returned no problem.

People have REALLY been complaining that Sovol has non existent customer support, and are really bad at returns. Peace of mind and faster shipping may be worth the extra cost at Amazon.

And historically this has been cheaper. $199 at one point, and was available for months on the Sovol website for $229. This is not necessarily a gotta have it now hot deal.

I'm not in any way defending this printer, because I do not own one, but wanted to point out that all printers in this price range also suffer from warped beds, squeaky bearings, sub-par product support, as well as cheap fans, etc. This is kind of a good enough printer to test the waters to see if you like 3D printing, and then you upgrade from there or fix this machine's problem areas. It's like a Crelity Ender 3 but with some of the Ender 3's areas fixed.

There are printers in this price range that now are actually much more reliable out of the box. We have come leaps and bounds ahead of the old ender 3 days. Yes there are still cheap printers with low qc, but now there are many in this price range in the last 6 months that are better than this qc wise.

Again, anyone interested do your research. I do have the printer. Its a great printer. It required quite a bit of work, really needs replacement bearings, needs a full lube, and if you get lucky the bed level will work and you will not have a majorly warped bed. That seems to be a crap shoot currently. I expect refurbs to show up soon if everyone returned these who said they did.

Not bad, but do not expect much out of the box.

I purchased the SV06 when it was first released. it's been a great printer. It's true that you may have to adjust the Z-axis screws and relevel the bed after you get it, but I had to do the same on my Bambu X1-Carbon, which cost lot.more. It really wasn't a big deal. The SV06 is an outstanding value and it's been a solid runner in my case.

Or a good way for someone getting into 3D printing for the first time to get such a bad taste in their mouth that they never consider 3D printing again! Just thoughts from a 75 year old just setting up his first printer.

That is also true, but to be honest most people wanting to test the waters to see if they like a certain hobby do not start out by spending a whole lot of money. I know that when I got into 3D printing 7 years ago, there is no way I would have sprung for a printer over $500, and at that time there were even less printers available under $500. I was actually hesitant about my sub $500 purchase, wondering if I wasted my money.

I guess it depends on where you are at in life, you may have a bit more disposable funds available to you at your age than others do. And props to you! I hope I am able to make it to your age, and if I do, I hope I am still involved with tech like you seem to be! Awesome!

My father is in his 60s and still cant even really figure out the internet lol.

I am glad to hear that, I haven't really purchased any printers in that range since an Artillery X1. What printers do you suggest that are better fo the same price as this Sovol? I am personally not in the market at this price range, but just curious to see where they have come.

This printer has been working great for me. Yes, I had to lubricate the rods but it prints great right out of the box. No Z axis issues for me.

A 3d printer has been on my wishlist for a while , sub $500. Usually it's Creality that gets posted on here. Is this better than the Ender printers for a first timer? Or any other suggestions for a first time printer?

I love my Prusa Mini+ that works amazingly well since I got it a year ago. I've only had a single jam that required a cold pull. The only downside is the smaller print bed at 180x180mm. https://www.prusa3d.com/category/...rusa-mini/

I have this printer(it is my first printer), I didn't have any of the issues out of the box. Even not having my zoffset dialed in perfectly it was giving really good prints. Now that I've dialed everything in the prints are much better than my friends upgraded ender 3. I think all of these printers are going to be hit or miss due to not great QA.

the 199 price was part of an early bird deal if I remember correctly.
