The funny thing about these is there are usually 4 per can in the Amazon ones and 3 sardines per can at Costco. I imagine Costco gets a slightly better crop or something

Never had costco but I can vouch for the 4 per can at Amazon - but is 3 better somehow if the total weight is the same?

In any case, great product, have been very pleased with it, and great customer service from the company.

The funny thing about these is there are usually 4 per can in the Amazon ones and 3 sardines per can at Costco. I imagine Costco gets a slightly better crop or something

Never had costco but I can vouch for the 4 per can at Amazon - but is 3 better somehow if the total weight is the same?

In any case, great product, have been very pleased with it, and great customer service from the company.

yep. 3 filets instead of 4 filets with the same net weight means the Costco QC is probably on a slightly higher tier (just my guess). having 3 filets make up the same weight means the sardines are of bigger mass and size per filet vs the smaller 4 to fit the same weight requirements. not too sure if it would matter much on the taste spectrum but maybe ever so slightly on the textures. these are the same species of fish just at different stages of growth. maybe someone with a master palate can tell us if "larger" filets of the same species of fish taste ... better? if not, i wouldn't bat an eye at the 3filet vs 4filet difference.

If there are four in a package rather than three, wouldn't they have a less developed bone structure? That may mean the bone is less noticable, which could make them more enjoyable to some.

That being said, I admit I want to visit Japan and try boney eel to exhibit my manliness.

I find these to have a less impactful taste versus those that have been smoked. I recently bought a 12 pack, and they almost taste unsalted to me, they're very bland, I would not buy again.

I appreciate any savings I can get, and per 3C this is the cheapest price since they started tracking it in 2020, so yeah, this deserves a post. (More so than a lot of things posted here that pretend to be 90% off of some made up price but aren't really even on sale.)
