Here's an even more basic breakdown in Lehman's terms:

3 Ratchets (I have the Husky 3/8 drive and I like it)
97 Sockets and extensions (91 sockets and 6 extensions)

10 Wrenches
186 Other tools and Specialty sockets.

The 186 Other tools and Specialty sockets consists of 5 sets (64) allen hex keys which seems to have lots of duplicates. Roughly 30 more hex bits and a set of hex bit sockets. About half of the 186 Other tools are various drive forms of hex bits.

EDITED: (Did not change the original post. Just Added this Commentary on getting a thumbs down for a factual and helpful post)
I gave the basic breakdown that I do every time I look at a tool set to cut through the fluff. I didn't say anything negative or post anything false. I think someone is just giving a thumbs down to every post because they hate socket sets? Or maybe there is something else going on...

If someone is going to give a TD for a good post AT LEAST they could reply to why the post is invalid.

This is getting very common across SD. The mods should look into this. It makes people NOT want to contribute and make SD a better community. I personally don't care if I get a hundred TD's, but many do. This small group of negative people are not taking SD in a good direction.
Picked up the 270 piece for $90 a few weeks ago. Only difference is the lame bits. 136 vs 162. Other counts are the same.
Great deal! Thank you for sharing. If you want a relative price comparison, the price of the one with less pieces is showing $298.00.

Edit: Not a direct comparison, as the 294 set has ratcheting wrenches in lieu of hex keys. Any ideas on the original price?

I like the tray design for the case and how you can remove and put the trays in a tool cabinet drawer. I just bought a Dewalt mechanics set and I really like it but I guess I am going to have to also buy some socket holders so I can put the sockets in a drawer and be somewhat organized. This sets case adds value in my opinion,

ABSOLUTELY!!! You know how sick of open end wrenches and the cheesy little carrier thing they come with along with plastic socket trays or carriers AND BLOWN MOLD CASES! OMG!! Should be like buying a shirt and ask me if I want the " hangers " cause I DON'T. Throw it in the trash as soon as I get home unless it's something I have never used or a new platform and could potentially be going back or it's going to take up an exact space or fit perfectly in a place in my tool cabinet it's going in the round file. But this. THIS?!! This is what I will use for the top or if it fits in a lower drawer otherwise drawers come out and case goes somewhere safe. Love stuff that simplifies my organization so I don't have to worry about redoing my whole toolbox/ chest, cabinets or whatever you want to call it.

My brother's birthday is coming up, wonder if this would be good for a guy who has lost every tool he's ever bought or borrowed, no matter how expensive or who it belonged to. Could he, at fifty-two years old, at last master the advanced life skill of returning a tool to its designated place? Maybe with a set like this he will stop buying disposable quality tools and simply setting them down when a task is completed, and more importantly, stop treating borrowed tools like he found them in the tractor supply bargain bin. I bought him a harbor freight socket set already to replace a craftsman socket set (of mine!) that he simply set down on the ground after the Mercedes 350SDL that went to pick up a hundred miles away roared to life (we collect old Benzes.) The tool sets coming up here on Slickdeals keep getting cheaper and more elaborate, and my big bro has fixed my junk so many times I feel like he deserves something better than just a cheapo socket set from HF lol.

Bought one as a general toolkit for work. I work on DME from time to time and it would be nice to have a set like this to just leave in the van. Been struggling to find the right solution but I think this is it.

I have the previous iteration of this (different case but about the same count) and I've actually kept it organized because of how easy it is to put back. My only gripe with it is the size label on the socket is engraved in a lighter slightly shiny finish and it's sometimes hard to see which size you have immediately.

From a fellow old Benz collector, I think it would make a great gift! Home Depot has been very easy for me to do warranty exchange with my Husky tools in the past and he can buy most of the components in the kit separately in store if he still manages to lose any. I would say that these tools are better quality than the modern Craftsman stuff and a bit of a step up from the Pittsburgh line at Harbor Freight. Not exceptional by any means but they are perfect for most DIYers and hobbyists. Husky also has great, relatively inexpensive, long handle locking flex head ratchets that have been incredibly useful for me if you need an idea for a future gift.

Opps wrong set. There's a husky 290 also. That's 179 on sale currently 249. I'll have to compare after work. Unless someone already compare the 290 vz 296
