FYI there are issues with the coating on the non silver versions that can scratch the screen if it comes into contact. This does not happen on the silver one.

Why would the non silver versions scratch but the silver version not? The coating that colors the Milanese loop another color is responsible for the scratching?

I have a Series 6 graphite stainless that I've worn for two years. No issue with the color chipping. I do have some wearing off on the top left corner. I'm right-handed and have bumped it many times against door frames. The screen is still perfect.

I guess It's really diamond like. The Milanese band itself can also scratch the body of your watch. I'm not a fan of this band. It's my least favorite of the apple designs

Exactly.

The silver version is just untouched stainless steel.

If you care about scratches and paint chips on Apple products it's always better to get the silver/white versions because the aluminum and stainless steel on those do not have those issues.

And if you do get a scratch on the SS you can polish them out to brand new condition. You can't do that with the colored versions because it would take off the color.

I don't understand. So this problem doesn't occur with the silver watch that the deal was originally listed for, but will affect the graphite version?

It's not the watch, it's the graphite Milanese band. It's got a diamond coating that can scratch the sapphire screen on any stainless steel watch. The silver band doesn't have this coating.
