Very basic 32 amp EVSE. For a few bucks ($399) more the Emporia EVSE has more capacity (48 Amps hardwired) for EVs that can utilize that charging level and has plenty of smart features.

Bezos is no longer CEO. Andy Jassy is the current CEO.

I have 3 EV I fail to see why you need a smart EVSE? Its a plug to give you power.

I have a vTOU rate scheme also and I survive. The simpler the better--less to break, almost all vehicles can control charging. I have a dual charger and both vehicles manage it just fine, along with a single.

You are also talking about a hardwired application, and if you have a NEMA plug then a hardwired device is not in the cards. It also requires a 60A breaker and the associated cabling. This is not in your average household.

BTW what most people need is a basic EVSE. My father's Bolt can't even charge that fast, so a 32A EVSE is all that is needed. Yes it depends upon the vehicle so YMMV.

Also be careful this is NEMA 6-50 (the one without the neutral), so be sure you know this isn't going to plug into an existing dryer outlet.

I'm on my 4th EV. Even when not hardwired the Emporia EVSE has more capacity (40 amps) which makes it a better option than this AMZ Basics one. The smart features are there if one wants to use them as a bonus and ease of use.

To each his own. I just don't see the value in this Amazon 'deal'.

Beware though, if you already have a NEMA 14-50 your most likely restricted to 40 amps unless you have a 60 amp breaker, and 6 gauge wiring.

Agreed. This EVSE maxes out at 32 amps.

It's also recommend to use a high quality receptacle if for any EVSE that will not be hardwired. EV forums are full of pictures that show melted and burnt power receptacles. Just plugging one into an existing 'dryer' outlet may be a costly mistake.

The joke was funny due to the absurdity, the actual current CEO was not really the point.

It's here and it's called the Chevy Bolt. Depending on what state you're in you can nab a fully electric 250 mile range Bolt for under 26k. The slightly bigger Bolt EUV comes fully loaded with Bose sound system and Super Cruise optioned in for under 34k.

Super Cruise has been reviewed by many auto journalists to be superior to Tesla's autopilot. It is limited to mapped roads only but that database is growing rapidly and now covers most major highways and parkways.
