FYI, there are some nice, albeit a bit more rough cut and not quite as fancy leather sleeves on Etsy from multiple sellers starting at $30ish for a MacBook Air size. I'm really happy with the one I ordered from Ukraine after the war had started last year. The leather is great quality, and I like that it's a bit simpler and rough/normal leather on the inside of the sleeve. Gotten a couple compliments on it too. Obviously, if I could get an Apple brand one for $60ish, I'd probably get one of them too.

care to share any? I've gotten some leather cases on etsy that were terrible.

Yes. Too big for the 14". I bought this last year and the 14" can swim inside the case. Haven't bothered to use it as it's too loose.

I've used Incase's sleeves—the Icon ones with Tensaerlite bumpers are my current go-to—with various MacBooks for years, and I've never been asked to take the laptop out of them. (Which is a tad surprising, given how much TSA likes making up useless rules!)

Looks nice but this isn't going to do much in the way of protecting the notebook against drops or falls as it has zero cushioning. A well-constructed neoprene sleeve is a lot more useful and less expensive.
