SanDisk is owned by WD, and they used to run nearly identical hardware for many of their drives. In their 3D TLC models that meant they were running really solid Toshiba BiCS 64 and 96 layer TLC with DRAM. I'd be fine running those.

The "Plus" models have always been lower tier, though, and it's nearly impossible to tell what components they're using in any given model. Supposedly they have also pulled the old bait and switch -swapping decent hardware with garbage without updating the packaging- making matters worse.

SanDisk has been fine for me before, but I don't see a need to pay this much for that many unknowns. If this fit my needs for any particular project, I think I'd just get a Teamgroup drive for $90ish. If I wanted boot drive, I'd get an MX500 for the same price next time it goes on sale.

Thanks. I ran through quite a few Crucial's and Kingstons and they never gave me trouble. Even the random 2nd-tier brands didn't fail except a PNY. There's no excuse for an drive to fail early without heavy use regardless of higher or lower tier ... my uses didn't come close in MBTF or TBW endurance of the lowest end of the drives from the shittiest brands. Sandisk took the shortcut and ruined the trust and they deserve to be on my shitlist.

Expensive the Teamgroup 2TB is $89. Why pay more especially when there is a massive oversupply of DRAM and SSDs right now?
What's teamgroups warranty like. Easy go rma. I just need a pair of these for an old server. Rather buy cheaper stuff. I have this Sandisk on my one x with no issues after 2 years.
