If you're using these anywhere near their max capacity, it's recommended that you pull it all off the spool to allow the heat generated in the cord to dissipate. Which, for me, kind of defeats the purpose of the reel.

….. and if you want: loop/chain it, THEN dump it in a box of its own Wink

I used to use reels like these, but I agree: Heat build up is no bueno.

I have one of these from Sam's club. It seems like a great idea but the fact that you have to unroll the whole thing is kind of a pain. If you choose to not unroll the same thing and then need to move it, you're unplugging everything.

I end up just using a regular one now anyway.
