Looking at the resort website, and playing around with a booking, you're getting the AI package for the standard room rate on this deal... However, looking at what the AI package is, you're paying about what you should at this rate. Only having buffet restaurant and limited bar location is not worth much more.

I would say this brand would be on par with Sunscapes (which is on the lowest end of AI brands).

No info on how to add kids to this deal. Any suggestions? Unsure if price is good or marked up and then discounted
Just take the kids and have them wait in car while check in then after that just walk in with the kids like you own the place. You'll be fine.

Fine print: go at your own risk

Additional hotel-specific charges: A 5% resort fee, 10% service fee, and 12% government tax are not included and will be paid directly to the hotel. So additional $600 plus come to $3000 plus air. 💸💸hidden fees

I can't speak to Travelzoo, but we personally stayed here for our Honeymoon. This is one of two resorts on the island. Eastbay resort itself is largely targeted at scuba divers and the rooms are set up more like long term stays with kitchens vs a traditional hotel or resort, but overall pretty nice. They have paddle boards, kayaks, bikes, and other stuff you can play around with, but know going in there is really NOTHING else on this island. The resort did daily runs "in to town", but it's not like most other touristy places where you can buy whatever you want at the local store - they are genuinely at the mercy of whatever comes in on the boat merchandise wise and their price is decided once you walk to the register. Another guest we talked to had bought a pack of M&Ms his first night for $2, they were $4 the next time he stopped by. Consider it a tax for those just trying to make it in this place. I forgot a hat and there were none to be found on the island. Take what you need and don't come with any expectation you can just "get what you forgot when you're there" or go in with hopes of leaving with trinkets of any type. Unless you want Bambarra, rum of Turks and Caicos, its there and is pretty solid.

Cool fact - the island brought in a bunch of donkeys years ago to help with salt mining. When they were done they left the donkeys so you'll randomly be walking down the beach and hear donkeys let out a glorious Heehaw - they're all around.

Worth noting to get here you'll have to take a boat or fly in a ~6-8 person small body aircraft. Pretty cool experience and the views are outstanding, but you're not hopping on a 767 to make your way there. XSC is a runway with one small tower, a fence, and very remote.

If you're looking for a cool experience on a remote island - give it a shot. If you go in with the expectation this is a large resort with cool things to do both at the resort and around the island you'll be in for a big shock.

Hurricane season ..
Honestly seaweed season, which it is as well, can be more of an issue imo. At least travel insurance will often cover hurricane related cancellations. No cancelling for seaweed overwhelming your beachfront view.

This sounds like Bora Bora minus the donkeys

Do you have any experience with travel zoo or the location you posted?
I've used travelzoo for years. More often than not its just a gateway to another site that has the deal and you either get the instructions on how to make the deal happen or use a coupon code to get a travelzoo deal.

Never been to Caribbean (we live in Bay Area). This December, instead of going to HI, we'll be flying East to see friends in Florida, but I'd like to take on a 5 or so days trip to Caribbean - 2 adults and 2 kids. What is a good destination? I heard a few times that some Caribbean islands are not family/kids friendly, and mostly for adult couples. Sorry if the question is silly, just gathering info for Dec trip. Thanks.

It was a good time, but we've done it. Wouldn't do this specific resort or part of Turks and Caicos again, but we don't regret having gone. Especially with us being the only non-divers at the resort we had the entire beach to ourselves for the entire week. Pretty cool experience. We did go during October so, like others have mentioned, there's a fair amount of seaweed on the beach at that time, but they were doing their best to collect and cover it.

Some are extremly unsafe..I'd choose Aruba. Dutch territory, very safe, lots to do, kids friendly.

I will ditto Aruba as the most kid friendly / safe place in the Caribbean. Aruba is pretty much a safer / cleaner version of Florida that you can easily walk around in.

Regarding this deal, the reason why the resort is so cheap, is that it is on the opposite side of Turks and Caicos from Grace Bay. Grace Bay is THE place to stay in Turks and Caicos for a multitude of reasons you can google by yourself. It is however very expensive because of this. If you don't mind "roughing it" a little bit, Club med Turks is similarly priced to this deal and is right on Grace Bay.

One last thing, for anyone that does decide to go to T&C, there are lots of sand fleas on the beach, so make sure you don't leave any part of your body directly on the sand for an extended period of time. Don't bring used beach towels back into your room. If you do, you will end up with tons of very itchy bites for the duration of your trip.
