The coupon only works on regular plates, ie buy one regular plate, get a regular plate free. Both 1 side and 2 entrees.

FYI, when I went to use my scannable code in restaurant today, here is what happened. I tried ordering a bigger plate and a regular plate, figuring that should work as I was paying full price on the bigger plate, so the bogo plate being a regular (the free one) would be the same thing regardless. It wouldn't work until the cashier rang it as Both regular plates then she just charged me an extra $1.50 for the third entree that would have been on the bigger plate. This allowed the code to work and for me to get the bigger plate I wanted for my part of the order. Total was like $11.30ish. Really good deal and a I'm embarrassed we ate it all lol. Ty again op! ������

I am not sure whether anyone calculated to see which coupon gives you the best value but that may depend on individual store's family meal pricing. Some are $32 and some are $35 or other price before coupon.
Yes, the fine print tells you the deal, but the bold lettered sentence says :
"ENJOY a Free Small Entrée when you tell us about your experience"

On a side note, I wouldn't be surprised if they start giving out all $8 off family meal coupons around 2/22 or so when they stop giving out BOGOs. The expiration date is 2/26 for the free entree coupons, 3/7 for the BOGO coupons, and 3/21 for the $8 off coupons. Last week, they gave out free entree coupons. This week, it's BOGO coupons. It would seem to fit the pattern if they switched to giving $8 off coupons next week. It would also make sense from a standpoint of getting people more into their food. A free entree creates a little interest, the BOGO plate means people have a whole meal there and once you're buying family meals, hopefully you're hooked, lol. I'd keep an eye out for new threads at 12 AM on 2/22.

so it seems they are about even actually, the main difference is with BOGO you can have more selection and order at different days instead of the bulk of the family meal

My personal experience is BOGO (2 plates) can usually last me 1 day
Family meal last me 2 maybe 3 days
