This is significantly faster than the 660p which was $99 about 6 weeks ago... great deal on a quality 2TB drive...

I know 19 bucks is proportionally quite a bit more but wouldn't the newer Solidigm (formerly Intel) P41 be a better buy?

For most consumers, nah it's not worth the 20% higher tag.

These recent SSD deals indicate that the price will continue to fall. The "deal" price will become the common price soon.

exactly. If you don't "need" it now, just wait. semiconductor companies have a lot of inventory to dump.

Without price as a consideration, what would work better with an M2 Mac Mini? This or this Crucial X8 SSD?

you're comparing an internal ssd to an external. my guess you're considering this to use with an enclosure - if that's the case, i recommend getting the crucial as it's built as an external ssd from the factory. many enclosures/usb adapters are not as reliable as external drives from the factory. i'm not saying enclosures are complete duds, but you have a higher chance of running into issues.

Well, I was thinking about getting this docking station anyway.

Wow great deal. Just purchased the 1tb version of this drive from amazon that I haven't opened yet. Might have to return that for this.

I could see using this drive to store my Steam Library. Decent price for what you get.

Should I get this or a high-end Gen 4 drive for about $50-60 more? Also, how much worse is this for DirectStorage?

Bought 2 and 2 PCI-e 3.0 x1 Host Controller Expansion Cards on Amazon for $11 each, going to pop them into the 2 x1 slots I have on my board and use them for storage to replace a couple of 2TB SSHD drives I'm using.
