Normal price over there - not necessarily a "deal." Their 14TB drives were a little cheaper a month or two ago. That said, this is where I get hard drives from now days. I'm waiting for 18TB to get below $190.

Last drives I received were stress tested for 10 days (each). All passed without any problem.
I took a look at Backblaze's most recent hard drive stats:
https://www.backblaze.com/blog/ba...-for-2022/

These two models from this deal were on the list. The average failure rate precedes them. Each of these drives were in use on average about two years.

0.12% - WUH721414ALE6L4

1.18% - ST14000NM001G

The others aren't on the list.
If you care about data, it should be backed up elsewhere. Period. And cheap (in terms of $ per TB) drives like these help make that attainable. One copy of your data on a drive with a low failure rate is unsafe, whereas two copies on two recertified drives like these is actually fairly safe, even if we assume a higher failure rate. The odds of them failing simultaneously is insanely low.

That said, I got a 12 TB Seagate model from them for 105 recently, so this isn't a great deal by this sites standards.

Drive works perfectly, disk check utility was clean. It is louder than you typically HDD, but that is to be expected from high capacity enterprise drives.

Important note for the noobs out there, the drive likely won't show up when you first plug it in, you need to assign it a name and a letter using the "disk management" tool in windows. Google that phrase for step by step instructions.

IIRC the 6L4 does not have PWDIS but unless your backplane supports it won't be used anyway.

Ok, thanks! I will get the 6L4 so I don't have to tape the P3 just like the BB easystore drive

Nice price for the size, and mots of these enterprise HDD pulls I've used have lots of life in them.

Should these be decent enough for a Home NAS? I currently have 2 14TB's from the WD Easystore (Shucked) I believe white label.

Yeah, I bought the ST12... deal couple of weeks ago. I did noticed that the failure rate on the ultrastars were much lower, but only after I bought the Exos. But also, we know that those Exos models are only 2.5 years old, so at most, they are 2.5 years old. The ultrastars came out like 5 years ago, so they could potentially be 5 years old despite what the seller says. Anyways, I'm pretty happy with the Exos. They're quiet when not being read/write to. They make a little noise during read/writes, but not too bad. They run about 56-58 degrees during heavy usage. I have them running in raid-1 in ZFS, so if one fails, I'll just get an recertified ultrastar from this vendor.

They give you the adapter if you were to buy the 04, but get the L4 anyway. I've bought 4 of the L4 drives so far and plan to buy more. Ran Unraid preclear on them and they had no issues.

I run the WDs in my NAS and tower both using unraid. Basically I have my NAS which is where I put my files for storage, then I back them up on my tower. My NAS consists of shucked WDs, a 04 and L4 of the WDs and my tower just has the L4. So far so good.

Thanks for the info. Went ahead and got 2 to complete my NAS setup.

Who provides the warranty on these? The page doesn't seem to have any info on if it's from the seller directly or the manufacturer. In general I'd say if they really are manufacturer recertified, that the warranty should be through the manufacturer, but can anyone confirm?
