The vagina is self-cleaning. That means that, aside from mild, PH balanced soaps and water, most of the time most women don't need to do anything else for it. Inserting certain things into it, such as porous, non-bodysafe sex toys, harsh soaps, and yes, sometimes unwashed penises too, can drastically throw off the balance of naturally occurring flora down there, which can and often does lead to an infection which requires antibiotics.
As for this product, whether it actually works is something I'm not really equipped to say. Probiotics never work for me, with the exception of one enteric coated brand I tried. Some folks swear by them though, and I doubt it will do any harm.
