Can you believe one of those "little" bas!ards chewed multiple holes through a relatively brand new (and expensive) Toter garbage can? I tried to catch him with some smaller Tomcat traps I had, but 2 were set off with no rat. These are larger - just be careful when using them as they can end up killing things you don't want to kill, such as chipmunks and squirrels.

i got this for 2.60 two months ago - and they threw in a $4 slow shipping credit ... but they sent just the one trap.

Yeah, I saw that there were some previous crazy good deals, but the post you linked to (between first comment and last was one hour and it was already dead). So, it does not look like too many got on that deal. At any rate, $2 (per unit) for a large name brand trap with a build in bate cup is a damn good deal. The small traps are selling for about $5 - $7 for a 2 pack.

I just ordered, myself. The third party seller has excellent reviews, so if a 4 pack is being advertised I expect that's what this seller will ship. It does look like Home Depot is currently selling 8 pack [homedepot.com]of these same traps for $35 -- which is over $4 per trap, even in the extra large 8 pack quantity.

it's a good deal when they work. We have a four pack and they don't do so well.
They are set to catch rodents in the chicken areas and we caught 1. The much more expensive Ratinator (around $70 at local TSC) caught 17 in a single night (and multiples for several catches in a row). They went from alive to dead in <3 minutes with the Ratinator treatment.
Not only do we now have more eggs (some days 100% more) again but also use less feed... That trap paid pretty much for itself!

I've had rats escape the wooden ones! I switched to the Tomcat style traps and never had any escape after losing a few to the wooden ones. As a side, we were visiting a family acquaintance once and our son wandered into one of their rooms and walked out carrying a loaded/live wooden trap. I have no idea how he didnt set it off and lose a finger but glad he didn't. Those people apparently had a possum get in their house at some point and were trying to trap and kill it... Pretty sure they weren't successful. No idea what ever happened to the possum lol.

These are a slow death for rats and mice, they work by clamping down on them and holding the rats in place suffocating them, not like the traditional snap traps that would break the rats necks (ideally) so many times I've seen these traps clamp on to a leg and the rats would flop around with the trap all over the place. If the rat hits it head on and it clamps down on it's neck it will kill them by suffocation. ideally you shouldn't put snap traps out where other animals or kids can get to them, they should be placed in a tamper proof box like bait goes in, they make ones that fit snap traps.

For mice we use TomCat Snap traps (very similar look but much better kill). For rats, we've moved on to the Ratinator to keep the chicken coop free of rats.
