Didn't say it's good or bad. Just pointing out for those interested since it wasn't listed in original post.

Not worth paying twice the price just for a bit better blacks IMO.
The U2723QE also displays a wider range of colors in SDR and HDR with better accuracy, and it has an... [rtings.com]
So went ahead and just got the S2721QS for $249 since almost identical if you read the review above laugh out loud
Not to mention I can use the S2721QS with my Xbox X nod

Wow the S2721QS seems better in essentially every way imaginable. The only area it's lacking slightly is HDR.

Its not just a screen. It can daisy chain to a second monitor and is a very robust USB hub as well, which also charges your laptop.

Set your laptop down and plug in one cord, and you are now charging and can be hooked up to 2 monitors, up to 7 other USB devices (at up to 10Gbps each), and Ethernet.

It's a great machine and *well* worth the upgrade... If those features (plus better blacks) are worth giving up VRR and taking a hit on motion blur.

The S is just a monitor tho. The U can charge your laptop, and connect you to Ethernet, 7 USB devices, and an additional monitor.

Agreed. Ultrasharp monitor with many valuable features is for business or professional usage, not for "average Joe".

Still a terrible value proposition, considering you can buy full blown Thunderbolt docks that do far more and the S2721QS together, for less than the cost of the u2723qe.

My Thunderbolt dock (HP G2, which is ~$100 on Amazon and ebay regularly) already has essentially everything you describe, can charge my laptop at up to 100W and is also a 1 cable solution to my laptop.

Using a monitor as your main USB hub is also really annoying. Ports are much harder to find and use, than a docking station.

At this price? What TB hub (with 2 display outs, 100W PD, and 7USB's @ 10Gbps are you finding for less than 250-300? Let alone doing "far more" (yeah TB allows an eGPU, but TB3 isn't rly much better than USB3.2). At full price I agree not worth it at all, but at this price it's a great value and a good way to cut clutter too.

HP G2 Thunderbolt dock, although it's not 7 USB ports (6 USB ports total), but it has other stuff (more display outputs), and many of the OEM Thunderbolt docks from Lenovo and Dell are under $100 on Ebay or Amazon too. These docks get liquidated regularly when companies move, upgrade, go bankrupt or downsize.

I mean at $100 you're talking about used, tbf. The USB jacks are half the speed (or less on a couple), and it's still an extra device on the desk. Upside: if you're often switching USB devices, having the jacks on the back of a monitor is *incredibly inconvenient*. But like i said from the beginning "If those things matter". 1-2 extra USB and all at 2x the speed, reduction of clutter, plus better blacks. If those dont matter, then yeah that's not extra value.

I've purchased about 20 of these G2 docks for my work. So far 1/2 have been brand new still sealed, the rest have shown no signs of wear or use, they're an amazing value.

If you're saturating multiple USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, then you want a newer Thunderbolt dock anyway, not this monitor. There's only so much bandwidth available over Display Port 1.4 for display and alt mode, especially if you want to drive more than one monitor. Newer Thunderbolt docks are $200-$250 regularly when they go on sale.

The "better" blacks are debatable, because panel uniformity on this monitor was worse, and it had lower tested brightness.
