Coats have ratings for how low the insulate/ protect to temperature wise.

I have had this jacket for 2 years now. It is fantastic. I took the fur off the hood since it is easily removable. I would've paid $150 for it. Plenty of days at zero degrees F and it's never failed me.

I feel the opposite. Seems like Columbia has been getting better over the last several years. Perhaps because they borrow from their more expensive lines like Mountain Hardwear?

Design wise and in term of fit/functionality, their items are much better than what I have from them 10 years ago.
