2000 lumens is fine for a light controlled room (mine is 1800); 3D isn't really a thing anymore; I've yet to see a review that says the contrast is bad; keystone (? lol) and auto focus are inane—setting up a projector once is no big deal; I'd imagine most people are using a different device than the built in apps, but from what I've read, LG's OS is one of the best (it's actually a strength on most reviews).

I'd also imagine most people would be hesitant of buying a projector from a company with limited track record and whose company name looks like a random mishmash of letters you see on Amazon peddling trash products. Big purchases require a company is around to provide firmware updates and handle warranty claims (and spare parts).

Basically, unless you've demoed this projector or seen it in action, your comments are unhelpful to people looking to buy.
Somewhat disagree with your comments.

Just like you've mentioned, I've also tried multiple projectors ranged from $100, 2k/3k.
And currently owns Vava 4k, Optoma cinemax p2 and d2, Samsung premiere, and LG hu70lab and LG hu810pw (im not going to go over all portable projectors since they are not in same league, but do have Xgimi halo plus, elfin, and Wemax dice)

As Paranoid_yet mentioned 2000 ANSI lumen is sufficient enough in light controlled room. But real issue here is that each company's advertised ANSI lumens can be quite deceiving. Among projectors that you mentioned one projector that actually gives you over 2000 Ansi lumen is Dangbei Mars pro 4k. Measured ansi lumens of Xgimi Horizon pro is merely 1200 ansi lumens. (Per The Hook up review: https://youtu.be/ZDB_dqR2EWA)
By the way, dont get me wrong I do love Xgimi projectors..

Currently my go to projector for movie night is LG hu810pw which have brightness rated as 2500 Ansi lumens but fact is it is far brighter (or look brighter with high contrast ratio) than any projectors that I mentioned above.

Also 2 laser sources (by the way LG hu710 uses mixture of laser and LED source), with built in adaptive contrast, Iris adjustments function. It produces the best image that I've seen under 3k projectors.

And if you've used LG hu710, you would probably know that keystone correction is not really required on this projector (unless you are trying to project screen from extreme angle), since it comes with pretty wide/handy manual lens adjustment knob,
with Lens Shift: Horiz ± 24% | Vert ± 60%, you can easily move your sceen around without losing your picture quality.
On top of it, honestly, I would never recommend anynody to use keystone correction. You are sacrificing too much quality juat to make screen look right.

Also I'm not sure what you meant by limited built in apps? hu710 comes with the latest Web OS which provides flawless services to any major streaming apps you can name. (Of course including Netflix) And i believe it is far superior system than Android TV. Especially with extremely easy screen mirroring option, user friendly interface with fast response.
Only 2000 ANSI lumens. No 3D. Suboptimal black levels. Not a smart projector with auto keystone or auto focus. Limited built in apps. For a similar price or less, you can get a Dangbei Mars Pro 4K laser, Xgimi Horizon Pro 4K LED, or Optoma UHZ45 laser. I tried to post deals for a couple of these but they kept being removed.

The legitimacy of your comments in nonexistent when your second point is "No 3D". What year do you live in? Also, as others mention this projector has a wide selection of apps, but in either case a dedicated media device will always perform better than an integrated one.

Seems like you're shilling.

I owned this projector and sold it after a few months. The performance, in terms of brightness, wide color gamut (thanks to the laser+LED illumination) and contrast, was very good for the price. I liked the manual iris as well, which is a rare feature on a projector in the price range.

The main problem is it's handling of HDR content. There are only two HDR modes: dynamic tone mapping on/off. When it's on, HDR content is super dark. When off, it's too bright with lots of clipping in bright scenes. Unlike other projectors, they don't give you any other ways to adjust the tone mapping based on your screen size and ambient lighting conditions.

I ended up getting the LED-illuminated BenQ X3000i which has a bigger DLP chip for higher brightness and higher contrast / lower black level. Also lower latency for gaming, and much more customizable HDR settings. It's a little more expensive and doesn't have lens shift or adjustable iris, however.

To be clear, this LG is a VERY good projector, for the price, for 4K SDR content.

So what would you say about this replacing a Sony 45ES?
I use the same projector, so I am always wondering what a significant upgrade would be also. I am very pleased with the performance of the 45ES. The contrast levels are awesome. (throwing at 100" AT screen].

The LG is going to be a downgrade in terms of picture quality. Sony is an LCOS with a significant advantage in contrast ratio vs the DLP chip the LG uses. The LG is also far less color accurate out of the box, so it's advisable to have it calibrated which adds another 400 bucks to the cost.

The LG has 4k, but resolution is typically considered to be less important than contrast ratio and colors for projectors. I recently upgraded my 45es to a JVC 4k and I can tell you that it's pretty hard to notice the resolution bump on a 120 inch screen.

The one real upgrade that LG offers is laser vs bulbs. However, bulbs still last thousands of hours. You're spending 1500 dollars on a new projector, by the time the cost of 45es bulb replacements match the cost of the LG, the LG's laser will have failed. I also don't know your viewing habits, but I owned my 45es for 5 years and still haven't needed to replace the original bulb.

Advertising things like a smart OS are stupid in my opinion. If you really want to stream, go buy a fire stick for 20 bucks. Or, build a 300 dollar htpc, far less than the 1500 dollars of the new projector, set up madvr, make your hw45es perform far better than the LG in almost every regard, and have true HDR capabilities.

I agree on your bulb life comment, I have an old infocus sp4805 projector I purchased new in 2005, and used it for about 4hrs a day off and on up until I had to move to another location in 2016, and in that 10yrs I had about 1800hrs on the bulb that was rated for 3000hr lifespan and the image still loooked great. I still dont live in a location where I can use a projector at the moment, but I'm always checking out the current deals on them, and one thing I myself would always want in a projector is the ability to play 3D movies, I have alot of 3D movies that I currenty play on my old 46" 3D tv.

It legitimately doesn't have 3D, while many competing models still do. Unlike the TV market, projectors have not abandoned 3D, and many brand new models still provide and market it. Yes, in 2023. It is you who's comments are illegitimate and unknowledgeable about the projector market. And, if you read AVS forums, not just review sites, you'll find that this projector has much worse black levels and color accuracy in practice than the specs would suggest.

Not sure where the positive feedback on this comment is coming from. I won't rehash why so much of this is flat out wrong because it looks like others have already done so in depth but this is a great example of how misinformation can be taken as gospel by people that simply don't know any better. People come to a thread and think this is helpful and give it a thumbs up when, in reality, it is mostly nonsense

For employees of any LG partner, includes a wide array of major employers. I bought my 77" OLED from the member store with a hospital email address. I would guess the member store is available to millions of Americans. Most of course don't know it even exists.

$1099.99 right now, for what its worth.

Purchasers are limited to 7 things per calendar year.
