Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.
they both have the same camera sensor, you know this right?

Tried again on mobile, different everything. No go.

Then directed to go to a store or call, but a hold was placed on my Apple card.

I give up.

I bought this device via the same deal in Dec. And it is a great device. However, the wait time of 180 days for unlocking it is kind of bummer. If you are ok with that long of wait time, its a good device.

It's common theme with Metro. Works for some people but not others.
I did many orders and only 1 was successful. The successful one was made in the middle of all the unsuccessful ones.

It looks like I'm flagged. I got 2 back in December. Or Metro's system is FUBARed.

It's not just you. Tried multiple cards, both home and business addresses. I tried for like two weeks twice a day before I gave up.

Same here. Several of the devices (A14, A23, this one) I could use for myself and family members but none of the transactions can be completed.

Not sure about being flagged. I tried probably 20+ transaction before it finally took. No other success since.

I just tried it again using Firefox, of all things. Using the same info, phone number, and credit card TMO has for my regular account. It worked. Chrome, Brave, Safari, iPhone Safari, nada. Bizarro.

This seems like a better deal than the A23 deal for $50, but not getting any love like that is. Why?

I was getting this on same computer. Used another computer to order with wife's information and another credit card. It went thru finally.

.

That garbage error has happened to me since last year. Metro by T-Mobile doesn't want business. they want to scam people by telling people to visit their crooked stores.
