Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

I was just answering the question. Moto does have more bands and Samsung is more carrier specific. That's why I said Moto if you want to use it on ATT or Verizon and Samsung if you want only T-Mobile service. Obviously Moto works on all carriers so you can use it on T-mobile as well.
Your logic is puzzling.
Yes, Moto operates perfectly fine on T-Mobile network and Samsung operates perfectly fine on ATT.
That's the reverse of what you implied in your answer to his question.

Well I'm saying I had already bought two in Dec. I used the same address for the one I just ordered tonight.
I'm saying Metro is not allowing you to buy more than 2 per household. That's in their T&C for this deal.

You missed his point - he thinks the Samsung is a better phone, but has fewer ATT/VZW bands than the Moto.

So he's saying that if you're only using it on T-Mobile (or if you're using the device on WiFi only) choose the Samsung.

But if you're going to be using it with ATT/VZW, the lack of bands on the Samsung ends up making the user experience inferior to the Moto.

For each specific phone? or for ALL phones? It wouldn't make sense for all phones since they clearly advertise for you to have up to 5 lines.

They don't really enforce that in their online store.

If you look through the older threads, you'll find a number of people who've exceeded that number.

I've personally gotten over half a dozen phones from Metro's online store in the past 6 months or so. All of the orders had the same CC, phone number, and address.

The limit is for the instant rebate:

"Limit 2 smartphone instant rebates per household."

You can add as many lines as you won't but you won't get free phones for all of them, if they enforce this criteria.

Looks fine, Due monthly is only if you want to continue your plan, but not necessary.

Thanks.
The details hold merit and make sense, which I didn't 'get' at first.
