I've found it for $500-700~ round trip from Houston before wait a couple of months and check Scott's cheap flights.
Vietnam is always hotter than hell. The only real difference is how much rain there is at the time.

That is the better time of the year to visit VN. The heavy rain starts at the end of May through August. The best time to go is Nov - Early May. It is cooler if you go to the north.
In all fairness the rain typically doesn't last that long. But I agree it is hot and insanely humid in the summer time, and yet somehow the VN still eat pho at all times of the day without needing air-conditioning.
