There are some teardown videos of this. There's no shuckability. It's a usb interface, usb to nvme and a controller/flash module. Its one little pcb, not a drive in an external. And it's tiny.

I get 1050 speeds connected to a usb 3.2 or usb 3.1 gen 2 or whatever term the usb folks are using this weekend for the fastest current usb-a port.

Feels like you could run it over with a steamroller and it'd just push down into the asphalt.

I got it on BF for $130 through BB via ebay and a huge Capital One cash back/coupon reward, while others were happy to get it for $150. Great deal to see it come around again at $135.

And yes, if you format it for the steam deck, you can put your games on it and run them from there. You have to mount the drive each time you connect it, but I think that's fixed in the beta or developer ring of steamos? It's small and light enough to just velcro to the back.

Picture of what's inside the case. This is the 1tb variant. The 2tb has the other two flash modules populated.

Anyone shuck this and know what kind of drive is in it?

Since it is USB, I'm going to guess not that speedy of a drive.

Which one?

I just picked up an Intel 670p 2TB for $80+tax. It's PCIe gen 3 and QLC, but it beats my Crucial P5 3D NAND.

I wonder if I can shuck it and put a 256gb i have lying around inside the enclosure. I don't need 2tb portable but 2tb for my pc internal plus a 256gb portable would be nice
