Deal Details
By using the code HIMINISFORUM at checkout (saw it on Twitter [twitter.com]), you can save $50 on the Minisforum HX80G gaming mini PC with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H & Radeon 6600M in the barebone variant and get it for $629 with free shipping.

With the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H & Radeon 6600M it is capable of gaming at 1080p.

I would recommend it for users who want to install their own RAM and SSD, the $50 off code also works with the variants that have RAM and a SSD installed, but if you look at the RAM and SSD deals you will find the same capacities cheaper, so I would go with the barebone. Keep in mind that you will need SODIMM RAM sticks like those used in laptops.
Specs:
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor with 8 cores and 16 threads (up to 4.4 GHz)
  • AMD Radeon RX 6600M graphics with 8GB of GDDR6 memory
  • Dual-channel DDR4 SODIMM slots supporting up to 64GB (32GB x 2) of memory
  • M.2 2280 PCIe3.0 SSD supporting up to 2TB
  • M.2 2280 SSD slot (supports NGFF SATA or NVMe PCIe3.0 SSD) for storage expansion
  • M.2 2230 WiFi support (Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2) for wireless connectivity
  • 7 Heatpipes (3 for CPU and 4 for GPU)
  • Multiple video outputs including 2 HDMI (4K@60Hz) and 2 DisplayPort (4K@60Hz)
  • Audio output via HDMI, DisplayPort, and headphone jack
  • Ports include RJ45 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, USB3.2 Gen1 Type-A port (front), USB3.2 Gen2 Type-A port (rear), USB3.2 Gen1 Type-C port, clear CMOS, microphone jack, and headphone jack
  • Runs on Windows 11 Pro, Linux, or Ubuntu operating systems
  • Size and weight 8.07*7.99*2.73 inches / 2.67 lbs
  • Includes power adapter, power cord, HDMI cable, base, bottom plate, technical documentation, and mounting screws
  • DC 19V power adapter included

So to sum it up, it still needs storage, memory, wifi module/antenna(not sure what would be right to call it), and an OS?

Correct. The 6000 series can support PCIe 4.0.

There is no mini pc he doesn't like. His reviews are not critical or in depth at all.

or Just buy a gaming PC with complete parts and OS.
Or maybe 1080p is good enough for some people, or maybe people don't want a giant computer case or a laptop but something smaller that they can put anywhere on the table. And they don't mind purchasing some RAMs and SSDs and installing an OS themselves. In fact they very likely prefer their own parts and a clean OS instead of whatever crappy parts and bloated system provided by OEM.

mini-PC is already a niche market and most consumers are not aware of their existence. Gaming mini-PCs are even more so. But they are serve different people. There is no way I would buy a box like this for gaming because of all the issues and limitations, but I understand why other people may want it and that they can live with those problems.

You nailed it. All his vids are bs. He has multiple channels on YT and they are all a waste of time.

And all these Minisforum devices are ridiculously overpriced. The Beelink deal for a 6800H with ram and SSD is much better.

Why did they cripple the video outputs and limit them all to 4k 60Hz? With discrete graphics it should be capable of higher frame rates.

He never covered this exact model, he covered the HX90G and HX99G. I would argue that the HX99G is the better option as it is more future proof. The HX99G supports USB4 so you can use a thunderbolt egpu in the future.

Who wants to see a review on a bad design? That doesn't drive views
