- When a man escapes from a biological testing facility, he sets in motion a deadly domino effect, spreading a mutated strain of the flu that will wipe out 99 percent of humanity within a few weeks. I read the book, it's not as good as IT or Pet Semetary in my opinion. Some people love the Stand, but I would've been fine if I didn't read it.
This isn't a typical stephen king book. Some people LOVE it. I think it was good but got bored at times.
Gunslinger is my fav King books/series.

I will say that the ending in general was a bit anticlimactic, but overall when the suspense was high it has me hooked.
For reference, the uncut version of the book took me around 36 hours to read at 233~ words per minute pace.
