  • When a man escapes from a biological testing facility, he sets in motion a deadly domino effect, spreading a mutated strain of the flu that will wipe out 99 percent of humanity within a few weeks. The survivors who remain are scared, bewildered, and in need of a leader. Two emerge--Mother Abagail, the benevolent 108-year-old woman who urges them to build a peaceful community in Boulder, Colorado; and Randall Flagg, the nefarious "Dark Man", who delights in chaos and violence. lol - total garbage. He doesn't employ ghost writers.

Have read his books a long time - his style is as recognizable to me as an old friend's voice.

I stopped watching in the middle of the ezra miller episode. He went full... anyway.

I read the book, it's not as good as IT or Pet Semetary in my opinion. Some people love the Stand, but I would've been fine if I didn't read it.

Show sucks. The one from the 90's that was made-for-tv was better.

This isn't a typical stephen king book. Some people LOVE it. I think it was good but got bored at times.

Gunslinger is my fav King books/series.

I really enjoyed it. I read it back when it came out in paperback and reread it every few years.

Read the book last year then followed up with the show. The book is much better (although a LONG read) and the changes they made for the show didn't do it justice.

I will say that the ending in general was a bit anticlimactic, but overall when the suspense was high it has me hooked.

For reference, the uncut version of the book took me around 36 hours to read at 233~ words per minute pace.

The Stand is one of my favorite books of all time. I remember starting to read it when I was around 16 or 17 and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Read almost 10 hours straight. King is something else, he can just pull you into his world.
