Tighten the base where the cord attaches to the unit. I thought the same until I did that.

The P460 rotary tool in this kit is one of the loudest power tools I've ever used. I had to return it, the noise was so bad. I know power tools make noise but the noise level of that thing is ridiculous. Louder than a cheap blender full of ice cubes. The newer PCL480B is supposed to be much better but I haven't caught a good deal on it yet.

The P460 rotary tool in this kit is one of the loudest power tools I've ever used. I had to return it, the noise was so bad. I know power tools make noise but the noise level of that thing is ridiculous. Louder than a cheap blender full of ice cubes. The newer PCL480B is supposed to be much better but I haven't caught a good deal on it yet.

Ryobi tools are always on "special." Tools Direct was just selling them for dirt cheap a couple weeks and will most likely do so again in the coming weeks.

Tighten the base where the cord attaches to the unit. I thought the same until I did that.

It was as tight as it could get. Maybe mine was defective, but I've seen other reviews comparing it to a jet engine.

If you buy from direct tools get the factory blemished not reconditioned, the price isn't to much different and the blemished are new and the reconditioned have burned in marks on the tool that say RECON, like they do to cattle. They don't tell you that.

Mine was similarly loud but I tightened it super tight and now it's just a little too loud, huge difference.

I guess mine was just a bad unit then, or maybe they've improved manufacturing processes. I tried loosening it a little and that actually helped with the sound but it was still awful with vibrations. I had hand tightened it as much as I could and it was still very loud and with a lot of vibration. I then used a channellocks to try tightening it even more without success. Without the flex shaft attached, it was actually quite quiet - but no way to use it that way.

I also find that keeping the shaft straighter (rather than curved like a C) is helpful. It's still pretty loud but at least manageable compared to when it is at its worst. I got mine for $30, probably worth that but if they fixed it that's a good thing.

Used all of the tools shown all except the rotary tool. The trim router is very very loud, and I advise to use headphones to block out the noise (I just used AirPods and played music and I was just fine). The orbital sander works just fine, did its job as needed and same with the hot glue gun. I already had the exact same orbital sander from the 9 tool deal a few months ago. I used the battery hack (set two different pick up locations for the tool set and the batteries so you only get charged for one or the other depending on what you want) and I sold the extra sander for $55 on OfferUp. So I essentially got the four tools here for ~$50

I have a few routers, you should just wear ear pro with them as a rule of thumb, all of them are super friggen loud
