I don't know if you've ever heard this, but people who use cloth diapers wash those cloth diapers in the same washing machine as they wash other clothes. They don't wash them at the same time, mind you.

I'm not sure if you know that washing machines don't reuse the same water over and over and over again. If you're that worried, you can toss in a little bleach to make sure that the mop stuff is sanitized.

I do draw the line and washing adult novelties in the dishwasher with actual dishes.

I got this for $20 a couple years ago from Walmart. It's just ok. By the time it starts to steam, I've lost interest in mopping.

I broke all my other mops so I've been using this as my primary for a few months.

My wife washes our Shark steam (different model and type, but same concept) mop pads together with rags and towels.

Considering the boost temperature of the washing machine gets above 180°F, I'm not worried about any sort of contamination from the mop pads.

That's kind of the point of the washing machine, isn't it?

I have this and it works well for me. I'm not sure about others and why it takes so long to hear up, mine hears up in about a minute and a half. I mop the kitchen, which is pretty large, in about 10 minutes then throw the pad into the washer.

I can't see placing a dirty mop pad in a washing machine where I wash my clothes.additionally mop pads are too pricey to be used once and tossed.

Is this good enough to be the "only" mop? I have a robovac/mop, but need something that mops better. Does this replace "real" mops?

It's really all about how much you're willing to spend and how much space you have. Those mop and wheeled bucket sets with drying mechanism are amazing but take up space and are more expensive. Are subject to breakage if you clean with a rushed, heavy hand or have kids. I decided that continuing to replace them isn't warranted with the smaller living space I have.

The steam mop for the longest time had a specific purpose for cleaning deeper stains/residue on my laminate flooring. I now use it for all of my mopping and it's fine. The shape of the mop end is a bit unusual so all my microfiber cleaning pads from previous mops don't fit very well but they can still do the job. The steam transfer just doesn't work as well as the pad that comes with it.
