Pretty damn close to accurate tho…
i have a gaming rig, PS5 and XSX... they all have their place, but i'm not kidding myself into thinking that a barely comparable gaming rig isn't easily double the price of even these 5yr old consoles. i mean, my 6900XT Red Devil was 40$ more than this alone

Are there a lot of games that you are dying to play, along with a xmas sock stuffed filled with features you're crazy about trying? Lastly, will those be enough to keep you entertained or outlast boredom?... I'm sort of thinking the same thing since some folks i know just purchased their's not too long ago, but i know I'll get bored with it since there aren't many games that isn't on the pc or ps4... Makes it less desirable for me
Console makers (and other device makers, for that matter) subsidize their devices by obtaining revenue from other places. In this case, they make back their money by selling you games. TV manufacturers make it back by making their TVs "smart" and by selling your personal data and viewing habits.
The PC parts industry, comparatively, has few to no options to subsidize what they're making, hence why you generally pay full price, especially when demand is high (e.g. graphics cards).
I have plenty of gripes with the console industry, but the cost of the console itself generally isn't part of that gripe, because the devices are sold below cost in order to get you in the door buying the product that actually makes money for them.
that's not to say GPU manufacturers in particular haven't been gouging for years... but there were times that respectable GPUs could be had for a good price (maybe not NVidia, they're always stupid... that's why i went AMD this time). the people dropping a G+ for cards last gen were just idiots, 600$ for a high tier card last year was perfectly fine.
