Am I still steering clear of Lenovo for their hinge issues? Yes. I am paranoid. They call this the Flex 5 series, but what about the hinges?
Afraid of the potential irony.

I hear mostly about the 3 series and sometimes the 5 series. This is an honest question so I can try to stay updated. Looking for user data.

I've had my older flex 5 for a few years now. No hinge issues. I swear it's people misusing their laptops throwing them around that you hear about hinge issues.

Because of hinge issues, I had to trash 3 Lenovo in last 3 years - 2 windows laptop and 1 Chromebook. All issues starts after standard warranty is expired. Costco card doesn't cover these issues and Lenovo doesn't accept manufacturer defect.
Lenovo sucks …

I don't have the Flex model but the hinges have held up well. No issue with my 14" Ryzen 4700. The built-in webcam however doesn't work well after the Windows 11 upgrade.

We have two of these, four years old, used by middle/high school kids every day through the pandemic. Just replaced the battery in one. The webcam in that same one also stopped working. No other issues with either of them. Fwiw they don't use the tablet function all that much but will open/close them at least one or two times a day. Despite the webcam issue I'd buy again.

I have a Flex 14. Been using it for over a year with no problems. I only heard about the hinge issue after I bought the laptop and so far the hinges are working well and still tight like the day I opened the box.

I know the hinge thing is an issue/worry, but I haven't experienced it. I also own a Legion Pro 5 and overall I'm happy with my Lenovo purchases. I'd buy another Lenovo without hesitation.

I see 1x USB 3.1 Type-C with no PD and Display support. Does it mean you can't use a USB-C dock to charge and use peripherals including 2x monitors ?

Seems like a very good deal. Other than possible hinge issues, anyone else see this as a great deal?

We have a ryzen flex 5 w 12gb ram for 3 years now. It's amazing and never a hinge issue yet but my sister in law bought two at the same time, and she did have a screen backlight blow but it was covered by warranty. Neither of her hinges have issues. To be fair all three I believe are opened and used like a typical laptop, very rarely in tent mode or fully folded in tablet mode. This pricing for a 16gb 12th gen 10 core i7 with wifi 6 on this resolution seems like a great deal for this. If someone can confirm is 2nd monitor and charging capable via USB c, then this would be a hell yes

It is absolutely PD capable. Wife has this exact laptop and I just plugged it into our dock last week and it charges/displays.

Maybe not a great deal, but slick. It's a great all-round machine with no major weaknesses. If it were ~$550, it would be truly great.

ID10T error is always something to consider for any product with known "issues".

I understand everyone's experience may very but at 3 hinges:3 yrs rate, is there a slight possiblity that this could be an user error? Many people that i know (include me 7 yrs n counting) are using lenovo in its 4-5th years and hinges have not been an issue at all.
