I use cast iron on my induction. It's great.
Not sure if any of these models have same weakness as first tops that were made and sold by IKEA (also made by Fridgidare) but if one or both sides go out simultaneously it's most likely thermal fuse and it's hidden inside wiring shroud, very cheap ($35-40 with parts and shipping for DIY or $100 from manufacturer) and easy part to replace and since I did it for one of my customers it has been working fine ever since (they have and use this stove top daily for over 7 years and paid hefty sum to buy since it was new innovation at that time). If I remember correctly it was 16Amps rated one and it was first one half that went then the other.

This is not true. And could you elaborate on what is better about gas to your understanding?

"Me simple man. Me see fire, heat real. Gas better."

Probably something like that

Pros in the kitchen love that their "office" is not 60C. The idea of gas is old. I do like it, but love induction with the proper cookware.

Gas is king for wok fried foods. But I leave that to the experts đŸ˜‚
Natural gas (methane) isn't great for wok cooking because it doesn't have a lot of energy. Bottled gas (propane) has 2.5x the energy so that's ideally what you need.

I love my induction stove. The only thing I really miss about gas is being able to roast peppers over the flame. Otherwise, induction for the win.

Whatever, I meant whatever they use in a Chinese kitchen, and it sure as hell ain't induction
I mentioned that because I have an Ikea natural gas cooktop and I have a big wok. I've tried but I just can't get it hot enough to do a good stir fry. I have Chinese friends who have a 2nd kitchen in their house specifically for stir frying because it's so greasy.

This is simply not true— vast majority of chefs who have tried induction in good faith prefer it. There are restaurants going out of business in our town because they can't afford their gas bills, too. The gas companies make a lot more sending it to Europe, now that they and their Deep State buddies got their proxy war.
Also, gas fills your home with toxic fumes that account for a large percentage of childhood asthma cases.
Speaking of not true - this entire statement. Natural gas is 2/3 the price of electricity. There aren't restaurants going out of business because the cost of gas what are you even talking about?
I swear to God people love to get on the internet and spout nonsense.

Induction gets hot but if the power goes out, good luck to you. If you want to cook on a glass top, go for it. Personally I use cast iron when possible so induction isn't it.

Energy output.

Home gas is up to about 20k btu.
Commercial ranges can be double that and more, so tons more heat.

But it's also scale and size....

Grandma ain't cooking on the tiny burners or induction elements you see in most homes....

Heck, one wok alone can occupy the entire typical American range top, which makes me cry because they're So underpowered.
