I use cast iron on my induction. It's great.

Not sure if any of these models have same weakness as first tops that were made and sold by IKEA (also made by Fridgidare) but if one or both sides go out simultaneously it's most likely thermal fuse and it's hidden inside wiring shroud, very cheap ($35-40 with parts and shipping for DIY or $100 from manufacturer) and easy part to replace and since I did it for one of my customers it has been working fine ever since (they have and use this stove top daily for over 7 years and paid hefty sum to buy since it was new innovation at that time). If I remember correctly it was 16Amps rated one and it was first one half that went then the other.

Pros in the kitchen love that their "office" is not 60C. The idea of gas is old. I do like it, but love induction with the proper cookware.

Natural gas (methane) isn't great for wok cooking because it doesn't have a lot of energy. Bottled gas (propane) has 2.5x the energy so that's ideally what you need.

I love my induction stove. The only thing I really miss about gas is being able to roast peppers over the flame. Otherwise, induction for the win.

I mentioned that because I have an Ikea natural gas cooktop and I have a big wok. I've tried but I just can't get it hot enough to do a good stir fry. I have Chinese friends who have a 2nd kitchen in their house specifically for stir frying because it's so greasy.

I use cast iron on my induction. It's great.

Energy output.

Home gas is up to about 20k btu.
Commercial ranges can be double that and more, so tons more heat.

But it's also scale and size....

Grandma ain't cooking on the tiny burners or induction elements you see in most homes....
