Great find.

Pro tip, save on warranty by buying Asurion toy protection on Amazon for it, covers accidental damage too.

edit:. for my Air2S from Best Buy it was $350 for 2 years with Geek Squad, I think $249 from DJI Care. I paid $107.99 for 3 years from Asurion.

edit:. prompted by a couple of comments DJI offers flyaway coverage. Not sure of pricing but i figure this is a good opportunity for a PSA.

Nice tip! I assume they need you to take pictures to get the warranty started?

Well it was kind of awkward. I started a chat, and let someone know the serial number. But their site currently says you don't need a serial number, so not sure. I actually had to swap my entire Fly More pack after, at Best Buy, so the serial number on my plan doesn't match..so I'll find out.

I slammed mine into the side of a house a couple of weeks ago and reached out and started a claim. Broke an arm and the gimbal mount. Zero issues and the Asurion person I spoke with emailed a label, said they'll either repair it and ship it back or they'll cut me an Amazon gift card for the full price I paid ($1109 in December) - if they cut a check the warranty is over, I would have to buy a new warranty on the replacement I buy.

I just got the text 2 days ago that they received it and it could take up to 5 days to repair, so I guess I'll find out.

To answer your question, they've yet to ask for pics.

Also, they didn't want any accessories nor the batteries shipped back, so if they cut a gift card, bonus!

I was getting ready to order the mini 2 from Costco for 379. Now this one shows up. I was thinking the mini 2 is a great starter for me as it's my first Drone.

Any input and feed back is appreciated in advance.

I'm in the same boat. I'm leaning more towards the 2 because it doesn't have remoteID.

Get the 3 Pro…the mini 2 is old hardware. If you're just starting then the 3 Pro is the better choice

The best value for your money is Air 2S.

I've been in the same boat for days... then this popped up.

First time drone purchase as well. 3 Pro has obstacle avoidance sensors the 2 and (regular) 3 lack. Good peace of mind for a newbie.

Mini 3 Pro has newer O3 communication giving better range vs O2 on Mini 2 and 3.

3 Pro has a much better camera than 2 and 3.

Mini 3 is a lot quieter than the 2. Good for flying around the neighborhood/park without attracting attention.

Mini 2 and 3s don't need to be registered with the FAA (under 250 grams) AND are exempted from the new Remote ID thing rolling out this year unless you are using for commercial use.

This one ticked all the boxes for me.

For those debating the Mini 2 or 3, get the 2. It's a fantastic beginner drone. At half the price. Learn to fly and when you outgrow it, graduate to the A2s.

I learned so quickly with the 2 and only lost it because I stupidly lent it to my noob friend who, within 10 seconds flew it into the highest tree around. I assumed he would take direction and not jab at the sticks. What a moron - if you get in trouble, just let go of the sticks and it hovers in place.

Rant aside, it is an awesome drone and I have gotten epic video footage of Big Sur.

Does 3 Pro need to be registered for remote ID?

curious why you are wanting to avoid remote id?

mini 3 might be exempt on paper but it's not going to affect real life which is mostly likely your mini 3 will have remote id. i don't know what "registered for remote ID" effectively means but the answer is most likely "no"

I wonder if they cover non recovered drones. I got dji care in case it goes down over the water since I fly it over the water all the time

It's a beginner drone in the sense that it's as easy to fly, or perhaps easier than the Mini 2. You'll probably crash it. I've crashed everything I've owned. Only damage I've had was blades, except the 1 time I broke the frame of a Spark.

This is entry level professional as far as quality goes, so if your passion is the imagery, go with this. The footage rivals the S2 despite the smaller sensor.
