LOL, these SPX posts always devolve quickly, mostly by haters that know nothing about them, those that are regurgitating outdated information, or had a bad experience with one a while back. I've had one since it was originally released. Early on, there were some bumps in the road for sure, Win on ARM64 was pretty new. There's be a ton of work and improvement done since then. I have no issues whatsoever with my OG SPX. For most people that use Office and surf the web and watch some shows on it, it's perfect. It's my preferred travel device. Tablet form factor and weight but full Windows functionality.

No, you're not limited to only Windows Store apps. Come on, that was never the case.
64 bit emulation has been out for over a year now.
There is an official Win11 build for it.
Lack of 5G is overblown. Midband is just starting to appear in most places and is almost all DSS/NSA which essentially is just LTE-A on a 5G carrier. It's got a SD X24 modem, which is CAT20. It's 4x4 MIMO and 5CA, so up to 20 streams and is spec'ed up to 2 Gbps download speed. Obviously that's not going to happen but it can do several hundres Mbps easily and I do it regularly on AT&T. Some act like if it's not "5G" it may as well be 56K dialup.
VPN woes, Windows built in VPN is fully functional and has all features. Cisco Anyconnect and Palo Alto GlobalProtect have ARM64 versions and are by far the most common clients.
Lastly, yes, there can be driver compatibility if the developer hasn't fixed it.

Ok, rant over, carry on with the SPX hatefest.

I use this as a daily driver - and for an on-the-go pc it is awesome. For the price, you are getting a really high end build quality chassis, beautiful & accurate screen and dead quiet (ARM - so no fans etc...)

It is definitely not for gaming or processor heavy media editing. But I'm using it to edit via photoshop, lightroom, VLC (all ARM64 apps), Audacity (emulated but works awesome), Firefox (ARM64), spotify (ARM64). I haven't really run into many compatibility issues (but I know what I'm using and not trying to install any weird x86...)

Battery life has been great. I even installed a new 1tb 2230 ssd, which was super easy and increased my space and read/write speed.

Cons:
No headphone jack (so stupid in a productivity device)
60hz screen (wish is had the 9's 90hz screen)
No keyboard included (and I still don't love the kickstand on my lap)
No Chrome ARM64 app

If you had been following this space at all you'd know that Microsoft has been pushing ARM for a long time. This is a second gen Surface device, and there are more ARM Surface devices coming out.

And what's "risky" about purchasing from Amazon?
I feel like you didn't even read what I wrote as your comments don't refer to anything I said.

For "pushing ARM for a long time", Windows ARM support is pathetic.

And, I didn't say anything about Amazon.

This is awesome, been waiting for a deal like this. Time to finally upgrade and retire my original first gen surface pro haha.. thanks OP!
This isn't really a surface Pro. It's an ARM chip. They really shouldn't have named it "Pro X". Should have been "Go X".

Can anyone give some specific examples of software that won't work with this ARM proccessor? Or types of software (games, photo editing, etc.)-- thanks.

I have this, and I regret this purchase so much. Was hoping it would be a good alternative for portable music recording and none of my audio interfaces work. You need ARM specific drivers which don't exist. This is basically a higher end tablet with Windows 11. Works great if you only need Microsoft Office and internet capabilities and want to roll the dice on the software you need. Essentially the X has been relegated to web browsing, media consumption, and Office 365 in my household.

By "good review" did you mean the reviewer did a good job, or that the review was good for the Pro X? 3/5 stars is not what I call "good", especially for a flagship device with "middling performance" and "app compatibility issues".

Put a 12th/13th-Gen Intel CPU in it and sell it for $569 then it's a deal.

Which is better this Surface Pro X or a Samsung Galaxy Book Go 5G?
Probably Samsung, given the fact that it is running an OS with lots of Android and Linux-supported Apps.

Still prefer the Pro 7 Plus for $580 from Antonline posted here earlier.

Only two things this X version has more are the 16 Ram and the Sim slot.
Sim slot, I personally don't need (why would I pay for another service for very occasional use when I can use hot spot from my phone that I am already paying!).
16 Ram sounds really nice, but consider all the disadvantages with the ARM processor!

On the other hand, the Pro 7+ comes with keyboard - BIG deal. As far as the SSD, I got a 512 GB SSD coming today and it should be super easy to replace the original 128 GB. I got it for 40 bucks, new. So, total for the upgraded Surface would be 620.

I remember back then people bought the surface rt thinking it was the same as the pro models and were confused as s to why they couldnt install their own apps on it... That was a mess
I learned from the SurfaceRT to never go with an ARM processor
