No, you're not limited to only Windows Store apps. Come on, that was never the case.
64 bit emulation has been out for over a year now.
There is an official Win11 build for it.
Lack of 5G is overblown. Midband is just starting to appear in most places and is almost all DSS/NSA which essentially is just LTE-A on a 5G carrier. It's got a SD X24 modem, which is CAT20. It's 4x4 MIMO and 5CA, so up to 20 streams and is spec'ed up to 2 Gbps download speed. Obviously that's not going to happen but it can do several hundres Mbps easily and I do it regularly on AT&T. Some act like if it's not "5G" it may as well be 56K dialup.
VPN woes, Windows built in VPN is fully functional and has all features. Cisco Anyconnect and Palo Alto GlobalProtect have ARM64 versions and are by far the most common clients.
Lastly, yes, there can be driver compatibility if the developer hasn't fixed it.

It is definitely not for gaming or processor heavy media editing. But I'm using it to edit via photoshop, lightroom, VLC (all ARM64 apps), Audacity (emulated but works awesome), Firefox (ARM64), spotify (ARM64). I haven't really run into many compatibility issues (but I know what I'm using and not trying to install any weird x86...)
Battery life has been great. I even installed a new 1tb 2230 ssd, which was super easy and increased my space and read/write speed.
Cons:
No headphone jack (so stupid in a productivity device)
60hz screen (wish is had the 9's 90hz screen)
No keyboard included (and I still don't love the kickstand on my lap)
No Chrome ARM64 app

WAY DOWN in the technical details does it say Windows 10 Home. There is no released ARM version of Windows 11 (there is some beta preview), nor any assurance from MS that they will release one. Not to mention you will be limited on what you can run on it.
This is just too risky of a purchase. Apple is all in on ARM. MS just has their toes in the ARM pool. There is a reason this is discounted $900...
I think it's clear Microsoft has added this device to the long list of "revolutionary" product lines that were unceremoniously abandoned, leaving consumers with obsolete and unsupported devices.
They released the newest version just a couple months ago (Surface Pro 9 SQ3) in 4 different consumer configurations.
They may not be throwing their entire might behind pushing ARM, but they are still actively developing it. Major 3rd party vendors are also creating ARM devices (like Lenovo Thinkpad X13s).

Ok, rant over, carry on with the SPX hatefest.ARM processors have a limited instruction set compared to x86 processors, which can make them less suitable for certain types of applications, such as those that require a large amount of computation.
Hardware-wise I'm sure the ARM one is comparable, if not even slightly more comfortable due to being fanless and marginally thinner. But If I have to suffer through Windows in a tablet form factor, I sure as hell am going to want the full power to be able to install whatever niche x86 app or script I want on it and customize the UX to just the way I want it. I have a bunch of helper tools such as Tablet Pro and StrokesPlus.net configured that aren't going to be available for ARM.
In my opinion, if you're a seasoned user, it's only a matter of time before you'll run up against some bizarre limitation or unavailable tool on the ARM version. Would not recommend except as an entertainment machine.
Aren't they both ARM-based, facing similar limitations?
