This rate is not for a CD, this is a standard savings account rate. So the big difference is having complete liquidity versus putting your money into a CD which typically will have an early withdrawal penalty if you need to access your funds before maturity. Also, if you lock yourself into a CD and rates continue to go higher, you may lose out on some additional interest at other banks as they increase their rates. Once I see rates start to come down, I'll probably put some money into a CD that matures in a few years to continue to earn high interest even as rates start to decline.
They are jumping the gun by a week, counting on a 1/2 percent increase by the Fed in the next meeting. Assuming that happens, by the end of the month other online savings accounts will be in the 4.5% to 5% range. Solid rate tho.

And yeah, if you have more than $250k in an account, you might want to break that up and have a few accounts to keep your balances under that threshold…But I bet you already knew that if you have that much cash sitting around.
Nah takes like a day. They just sit on our money and earn on their end for a week then allow it to post so we start earning. LOL

Can someone please explain something to me??

When the UFB Back website sites:

"Bank products and services are offered by Axos Bank®. All deposit accounts through Axos Bank brands are FDIC insured through Axos Bank."

But then you can't find any mention of UFB on the Axos website nor the FDIC website, how can you confirm they are really FDIC insured??
This is a service of axos bank
it shows up as axos bank when I linked an external account via capital one and if that's not enough for you, axos bank sent me a survey about my ufb interaction after I pulled my funds.

I'm only putting 16k in so that's around 2.19 a day in interest lost at ufb why waiting for funds to clear. I may transfer them back from my capital One though since that's only 3.4. Havent decided if it's worth the risk especially since the accrued interest didn't look right over a week and my amounts only changed once. Perhaps it's worth giving it a month though and seeing what the returns are.
You are misinformed. The interest is only added at the end of the month. I have had just under $250k at UFB since last summer and observed this every month.

The only problem with UFB is that they rename their savings account often when they increase the rate you have to call in to get the upgraded account, but the account numbers stay the same. It's easy though. If you don't upgrade, you'll stay at the older interest rate.

Also, AXOS is a publicly traded bank and its stock price has remained strong through the recent banking anxiety.

Dear All,

My experience:

1. For faster transfer, add your UFB account to your Non UFB account (external), and push from there. It should take max. 2-3 business days. From my SoFi account, if I schedule it around 8 AM PST, I can see funds in my UFB account the same day around 4 PM PST. It's almost like wire.

2. Sameway, you can pull funds from UFB account. SoFi takes same day for $1000, or 2-3 days for any higher amount. No need to wait for a week.

3. You can also add UFB Money Market Debit card to zelle app, you can transfer in any amount that your external bank permits per day using Zelle. For Transfer out, there is limit imposed by Zelle for $500 per week.

4. Some banks offer free Wire, like Fidelity spend, PNC bank etc, that's the fastest way too.

Understood, their message responses are very slow. Call wait times are very high. But its ok. At times, Bank of America also keeps me waiting for 20 mins or so.
You can't beat this rate.. no one else is providing.

Again, funds are FDIC Insured up to $250,000 so chillax and enjoy...

Have you figured out a best way to keep track of when UFB offers a new savings account with a higher interest rate?

Been holding out waiting for Marcus to raise rates from 3.75% since I'm already parked there and they have such an easy process and app. I thought the general consensus was that other banks would uptick their rates but seems a lot won't budge.

Second this approach. I initiated a transfer from Capital One on Friday, showed up as processing on UFB by Monday, and today (Tuesday) the funds are fully available. Three business days total, although I don't know if the weekend helped or not.

The customer service horror stories are concerning to read but as others have said, just use UFB to park funds that you do not anticipate needing to use for a while. Stick with your existing banks and their higher levels of customer service for regular checking and savings.

Just in case if people are worried about the bank stealing interests with a long holding time, I did an ACH to fund the account, despite the available funds did not show up for days, within 5 days interests was posted which matches what the amount should yield in 5 days at ~5% which is immediately accessible despite the principal is not available for withdraw yet. My guess is that they added a timeout and some hurdles to moving money around too quickly so people won't deposit and withdraw like flash mobs which shocks their reserves.

Whenever I open these online HYS accounts, I experiment with a couple of dollars to see how they perform. UFB Direct has failed the test. Their fund transfer, in or out, takes a long time (a full business week). We have an account with MySavingsDirect which is run by Emigrant Bank, and they move funds (ACH) overnight so long as you put in a request by 5pm Eastern. Their customer service is very responsive as well. MySavingsDirect's rate is only 4.35% APY, but I feel that I am in a much better hand with them than UFB.
Thanks for the comparison, Ive been debating switching from Mysavingsdirect to UFB.

Did anyone fund the initial deposit with a BoA cash rewards card to see if it codes as an online purchase instead of cash advance?
Yes I already checked UFB on DoC but unfortunately not enough dp https://www.doctorofcredit.com/do...UFB_Direct

And it seems like most ppl opened the savings acct version instead of the mma even though it's the same rate...I would think the mma would be better than the savings acct?

Their reply to ur question:

Well yes, that's the differences but doesn't automatically make one better. For me it's just a place to park money for a high and safe interest rate so none of those differences mean anything. I thought you might have another reason.

I opened an account but didn't like it much. Using PayPal savings through synchrony bank and it's very easy. 4% apy still 16x what my bank does.
