Just for people that are trying to decide between this and the 650/Drop 6XX, this one is more neutral. The 650/6XX is a bit 'warmer' with a small hump in the bass.

I happily owned a 650 for years before I upgraded to an Audeze planar magnetic. These are fantastic headphones for the money.

Just for people that are trying to decide between this and the 650/Drop 6XX, this one is more neutral. The 650/6XX is a bit 'warmer' with a small hump in the bass.

This black finish version seems to be their newest/latest revision of this headphone.

Amazing headphones, especially for the price. As another commenter mentioned, these are very neutral, sort of the gold standard. As far as better headphones above this price range, you're going to pay a whole lot more for only marginal improvements if you want something better. That's assuming you have the ears for those $1,000+ headphones.

Bought my first pair back in 2005 for full price and with how much I've used and enjoyed it through the years, worth every penny. I managed to pick up another pair back in 2019 for $120 when they were clearing out refurbs of the last of their speckle blue version they had laying around. I would have bought several more if I'd known 2020 was going to happen and prices wouldn't be that low again.

I've always been tempted by these and similar open backs, but I live in a world of air conditioning, air filters, and fans. So I've always felt it'd be a waste when I already have my closed back beyerdynamic Custom Studios.

Great price for these headphones. That only lower FP deal was years ago!

And despite what people think, these headphones aren't that hard to drive. They sound perfectly fine off of a USB-C dongle for me.

It's only really a problem if you're listening right next to a window A/C unit. The music drowns most other sounds out. I listen to my HD6XX in my room next to a large Vornado fan that's on a higher speed and I can't hear the fan. Kids screaming, on the other hand...

I agree. I have read about the 660s2 and I do not see why they cost so much. Hopefully that price drops quickly.

Yes they can but it sounds very muffled. They won't be able to really make out lyrics or anything unless you are right on top of the headphones.
