I could have bought any color I wanted around Black Friday. They were all going for $279, but I think those were not the cellular version. I thought about getting one, but I never pulled the trigger.
Undesirability is a personal preference issue.
I'm fine with the green, because I bought this same green Apple Watch about a month ago.
If somebody has greenphobia, then I suppose they can always spend $50 more if having another color is that important to them. To me, it wasn't, but others may have a different opinion of course.
Comparison is against non-green color
Green is the only further discounted for the undesirability factor.

Not sure why only cellular versions are always on sale 🤔
probably no one wants to pay 100 extra for a feature that the iphone already provided. not like you will buy an apple watch without already owning iphone
Is this the first time the 41mm 7 has been down to $250? I've been waiting for it to hit this price as I've always wanted that green.
But man, my series 6 is still working fantastic for me. It's got a few dings and scratches...but as odd as this might sound, I like those dings and scratches somehow haha. I like how I haven't babied this thing and that it's held up as well as it has.
I guess I'm waiting for now.

I agree the the volume of sales are not going to people that don't already have an iPhone.
However, here's an example of one legit reason — I have a child who does not yet have a phone but we bought them a watch with cell service so they could still have some sort of communication method without buying a full fledged phone. I've also spoken to a number of parents who have done the same thing. I bought a used series 5 a little while ago for cheap and this has been a really good option. We just consider it a "bridge" for 1-2 years before we're ready to get them a full phone.
I'm looking at it because it would be a **nice** to have for those times I'm away from my phone — like when I'm out running. Again, not saying I'm some crazy long-distance runner here by any way shape or form but that's also why I haven't personally gotten the cell version yet.

Scenarios for use:
Leaving the house without a phone and paying with apple pay (best scenario ever)
Exercising (run, bike, swim, whatever) outside the house without a phone with access to calling or streamed music
Give to a child on your family account and you track them or contact them

And Walmart is huge, so they obviously order a lot of stock, and I suppose they're clearing out previous gen. inventory.
I don't know how long these deals will continue to last, but soon, I think they're all going to vanish once the supply is truly gone.
