Pretty much all enamel cast iron is made in China, unless you want to give up your first born son and get one made in France
Actually, the Lodge enameled cast iron is made in China. It's their un-enameled cast iron that is still made in the US.

I don't see why not. It will just take long time to heat up initially. Amazon review points out a few things like the pot can stain and should be handwashed. Rim of the lid and pot are not enameled; reports of rusting (apply oil to prevent rusting).

That being said. 100 for this seems like a gold deal. I'm contemplating

edit: I bet this thing can even sous vide! precision cooking, baby!!!!

Not practical unless you sit in high chairs around a low table. This will be overall too tall for comfort.

What's the difference between this and a slow cooker?

It basically is the same, with a few differences.|
It has a sear setting for higher heat, used mostly in prepping your meats/ingredients.
It also is cast iron pot insert, while most slow cookers are crock-style inserts.

For me, if it had a good 'Lodge' quality cast iron pot insert, rather than a questionable Chinese cast iron insert, I'd be real interested.
That's the main deal-breaker for me.

that is some thin cast iron, too. which kinda defe4ats the purpose of ci.
and very much agreed, I do not want mystery pot metal.

Yes, agreed.
I've been cooking on cast iron for 'many' decades. Most ppl don't realize that all cast iron is not the same and the qualities of it can differ greatly.
